• Valley of the Kings: The Valley of the Kings is a long, narrow gorge just west of the Nile River in Upper Egypt. Part of the ancient city of Thebes, it served as the burial site for nearly all the pharaohs of the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties (1539–1075 BCE), from Thutmose I to Ramses X. Situated in the hills behind Dayr al-Baḥrī, the 62 known tombs vary in design and decoration. In 1979, UNESCO designated the valley as part of the World Heritage site of ancient Thebes, which also includes Luxor, the Valley of the Queens, and Karnak.

• Valley of the Queens: The Valley of the Queens is a gorge located along the western bank of the Nile River in Upper Egypt. Part of ancient Thebes, it served as the burial site for queens and some royal children of the 19th and 20th dynasties (1292–1075 BC). The necropolis is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the mortuary temple of Ramses III (1187–56 BC) at Madīnat Habu. With over 90 known tombs, typically featuring an entrance passage, a few short halls, and a sarcophagus chamber, the earliest may belong to Sitre, wife of Ramses I. Notable tombs include those of Nefertari, the favored queen of Ramses II; Princes Khaemwese and Amonhirkhopsef; and a Ramesside queen named Titi. In 1979, UNESCO added the Valley of the Queens, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Luxor, and other Theban sites to the World Heritage List.

• Colossi of Memnon: The two imposing Colossi of Memnon, originally depicting Pharaoh Amenhotep III, stand majestically at about 18 meters tall on the plain. These impressive statues, each carved from a single stone block and weighing 1000 tonnes, marked the eastern entrance to the funerary temple of Amenophis III, the largest on the west bank. Egyptologists are currently excavating the temple, and their findings can be observed behind the colossi.
