Amazing Experiences - Spent 7 days on the MS Blue Shadow 4 following the Luxor to Aswan cruise. Food was excellent on board given the relatively small number of guests being catered for (like all ships on the nile it has about 50 passengers). The boats all pass through a lock at Esna so most boats are the same size (some are a little longer). Boats all very simillar & all follow same itinery. Our room was very clean & tidy with en suite bathroom & a juliette balcony. We were only English guests on boat having booked through Classic - it was a little off putting being only English on board surrounded by German & Italian guests. Boat operates a policy of having to buy liquids with full board packages - I thought that maybe a few bottles of water should have been provided free - its hardly an optional extra in 47 degree heat. Our Egyptologist Hany Refaat made the cruise - he was a walking Encyclopedia who bought the history of old Egypt to life - he also helped smooth over any small issues we had on the boat. All in all good time had by all

Different impressions - Tour was organized very well by Sheba Tours, Luxor, with pick up and drop off at Winter Palace Hotel by a luxurious limousine. Nile boat „Chateau Lafayette“, official classification as the most other boats cruising on the Nile river; as per european standards of boats cruising on river Rhine or Danube 3-3,5 stars; my opinion: 4 stars; the boat itself altough mid aged is in good shape and well maintained; former branded as „Iberotel“ hotelboat and now on regular service between Luxor and Aswan; it offers: large reception area, nice restaurant, spacious lounge/bar with different entertainment each evening, usual small shops, large sundeck with enough chairs and sunbeds, bar service, pool area with adult and childrens pool the cabin: 5 star spacious, comfortable, clean, enough room to store all belongings, safebox, sitting area, large window which cannot be opened and should become cleaned from outside, air condition, kingsizebed with soft pillows, bathroom with rain shower and toilet, lot of soft towels, daily top cleaning service the staff/crew: 5 stars exceptionally service all over the boat, most with smiling face food and beverages: 4,5 star always buffet service with rich choice of food for everyone; food of good quality, some fresh products; rich choice of national and international drinks at the higher price end; Espresso 50 EGP, small bottle of water 25 EGP, fresh squeezed orange juice 50 EGP, bottle of „Stella“ beer 75 EGP WIFI/wlan: 0 star although promised in the boat description and by tour operator as well really NOT existing! If you need wifi not only for fun or entertainment but to do your daily business work please AVOID this boat until improvement of the wifi equipment was effected; special thanks to the boat manager Mr. Mohamed Gamal and Mr. Khaled of reception desk who assisted me by working in their hotspot Guest structure: 1 star 5-10% foreign tourists; 90-95% (low budget) egyptian groups; i understand that the shipping company must accept egyptian groups in difficult times to maintain their cruise service; some of the egyptian guests met the boats standards and requirements but some didn‘t; they occupied 24 hours a day with their hight powered equipment all the boats wifi capacity, came to dinner in sports- or gymware, flip flops, shorts and undershirts; just e few used their fingers instead of cutlery - all together an absolute NO GO on a 5 star boat Resumee: at the moment over all 3 stars, after improvement of guest structure and wifi equipment upgrade to 4 star possible

To avoid - We are very disappointed with the quality of service. In fact, we booked a cruise with a French guide, and for certain services, we ended up with an English guide. When we had a French-speaking guide, the service was more than average, they really don't care about giving you information. Some guides are without embarrassment (one guide took advantage of the fact that we were buying water to grab a bottle and a packet of chips and so on) They were more concerned about the tips we were going to leave than about explained to us the site visited. We had the impression of being a real ticket machine, the tourist is really looked down upon because the prices are really excessive. They sell us extra services which are expensive (dollars) and which really serve no purpose, apart from lightening our wallet. Purely tourist trap. No compassion, no excuses. Please note that Egypt is dirty, the solicitation is excessive and the tips are excessive (the ticket is almost snatched from your hands). The prices are not the same between tourists and Egyptians, it's a shame. We are used to traveling and this is the first time we see this (also abusive). In short, very disappointed and I do not recommend.
