Arrival at the Nile Cruise & Luxor East Bank Tour - Recommended Arrival Time: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Luxor - A representative will greet you at your hotel in Luxor, Luxor airport, or the railway station, and then transfer you to board your 5-star Nile cruise before lunch. Enjoy lunch on board, followed by a visit to the East Bank, including the Karnak and Luxor Temples. Dinner will be served on board, followed by a folkloric show. Overnight stay in Luxor. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Note: If you arrive in Luxor early (recommended), the tour will commence immediately upon arrival to avoid waiting for the cruise check-in at 12:00 PM and to make the most of your time.
Karnak Open Air Museum - After lunch, embark on a tour of Luxor’s East Bank, visiting the Karnak temples. Karnak is more than just a temple; it is a magnificent complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks, all dedicated to the Theban gods and the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. Karnak was the most significant site for worshiping the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonso). Then, proceed to enjoy the Luxor temple.
Luxor Temple - Following the Karnak Temples, visit Luxor Temple, primarily constructed by the New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th dynasty and completed by King Tutankhamun and the great King Ramses II. The first pylon was erected by Ramses II and adorned with scenes from his military Battle of Kadesh. Dinner on board, followed by a folkloric show. Overnight stay in Luxor.
Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride & Luxor West Bank Visit
Colossi of Memnon - After breakfast, begin your tour of Luxor’s West Bank with a visit to the Colossi of Memnon, two grand twin statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, with two smaller statues at their feet (one of his wife and the other his mother). These statues, each standing 60 feet tall, mark the entrance to Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. Named the Colossi of Memnon due to a sound phenomenon after an earthquake, these statues were originally built in the Theban Necropolis west of the Nile River in modern Luxor. Made of quartzite sandstone, they were transported 420 miles from El-Gabal el-Ahmar near modern Cairo to Thebes. Then, proceed to the Hatshepsut temple.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the Queen Hatshepsut temple and uncover her fascinating story with her nephew. Rising from the desert plain in a series of terraces, the temple merges with the limestone cliffs of the Theban Mountain, creating an extraordinary monument. Then, head to the Valley of the Kings.
Valley of the Kings - Arrive at the Valley of the Kings, known as the Great Place of Truth, now called the Valley of the Kings. This majestic domain of the pharaohs once held great stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. Explore the tombs and resting places of notable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Return to the cruise and prepare for navigation in the afternoon towards Edfu city through Esna Lock. Enjoy lunch on board, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful Nile River scenery while having afternoon tea. Cross Esna Lock, have dinner on board, and overnight in Edfu City.
Visit Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo Temple
Temple of Horus - Visit the Temple of Horus, the most well-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the hawk-god Horus. The Ptolemaic temple of Horus, built on the site of an earlier temple, dates back to the reigns of Ptolemy III (237 B.C.). The wall inscriptions include the myth of Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama. Return to the cruise, relax on the sundeck, and enjoy the unique landscape and beautiful Nile River scenery while sailing to Kom Ombo City. Lunch on board and afternoon tea on the sundeck.
Temple of Kom Ombo - Sail for approximately 5 hours to Kom Ombo City while enjoying tea time on the sundeck. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, located 45 km north of Aswan. The temple was dedicated to the god Sobek Raa, the crocodile god, and the god Horus the elder. Built in 180 B.C. by the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Roman invasion, the temple’s unique location on the riverbank between Edfu and Aswan makes it a wonderful stop for Nile cruises. Sail to Aswan, have dinner on board, and enjoy a Galabeya party. Overnight in Aswan City.
Aswan Day Tour
Temple of Philae - After breakfast on board, start your day tour by visiting Philae Temple, the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, accessed by a small motorboat. This picturesque temple complex is located on Aglika Island, just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple was relocated to its current site after the construction of the High Dam threatened to submerge it. Philae gained prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. It was one of the last places where the ancient religion persisted after Christianity’s arrival in Egypt, officially closing in 551 AD. Early Christians used the main temple as a church. Return to your Nile cruise. Lunch and dinner on board, followed by a folkloric show. Optional tour to the Nubian Village. Overnight in Aswan.
Check out & Optional Tour to Abu Simbel Temple - Tour Concludes Around 2:00 PM
Abu Simbel Temple Complex - After breakfast on board, check out or opt for a tour to Abu Simbel Temple. Around 4:30 AM, check out and join a small group to visit the impressive rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel, designed for King Ramesses II and his beloved Queen Nefertari. The two temples, with their unique style, are masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated to save these temples from flooding. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to the four universal gods: Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. Return to Aswan, then transfer to Aswan Airport, railway station, or your hotel in Aswan. Lunch not included.
