Booking your own driver - My friend and I spent 3 nights in Luxor and were lucky to have found the private-driver services of Mohamed Abdou, who also was driving the best car we encountered in Egypt. He was prompt, spoke English well, and was chill—plus shared a fondness for chocolate ice cream bars, which he bought for us as a surprise treat along with extra water. (I hope he doesn’t mind that we nicknamed him Kojak.) Because we started our contact with him before we left New York, we ended up also using him to and from the Luxor airport—a huge relief since our arrival was 2 hours late. Most important, while we used a popular tour for the basic sites, we were disappointed that no tours combined some important West Bank sites we wanted to visit in a single day, such as the Workers Village and Medinet Habu, to name just 2. Mohamed drove us to those and put us in the capable hands of the informal on-site guides. It was the perfect tour day. It was my 3rd visit to Luxor and probably not my last. I’d hire him again.

The driver and the car environment are good - Temporary night before the booking of the car, the driver service is good, instant contact with WhatsApp to confirm the time of the place, prepare in advance for the outside of the hotel, etc. After going to the attractions, the car will stop and lead the way to the entrance, and there are careful reminders away from scammers, there is a chance that the same driver will be overturned again!
