Quito to Cotopaxi
Machachi - Departing from Quito early, the journey will take the Pan-American highway heading south. A brief stop will be made for breakfast, where facilities such as restrooms and an ATM are available if needed.

Quito to Cotopaxi

Cotopaxi National Park - Located near Quito, Cotopaxi is Ecuador’s second-highest volcano, standing at 5,897 meters above sea level and is active. Visitors can explore this protected area and ascend to the first refuge at 4,864 meters above sea level.
To enter Cotopaxi National Park, a passport or ID photo will be required for registration, allowing access to the protected area.
Cotopaxi National Park - The Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Center offers an exhibition of photographs and information about the Cotopaxi volcano, as well as insights into the flora and fauna within the reserve.
Laguna de Limpiopungo - Limpiopungo Lagoon, a stunning lake formed by glacial waters, is situated near the Cotopaxi volcano. From this vantage point, various bird species, native plants, and nearby volcanoes can be observed.
Cotopaxi National Park - The journey continues to the parking area, where the walk to the José Rivas refuge at 4,864 meters above sea level begins. The walk takes approximately one to one and a half hours, with the focus on enjoying the scenic route and breathtaking landscape.
Cotopaxi Province - Following the National Park visit, a lunch stop will be made at a farm near Cotopaxi. The delicious potato locro is recommended for the cold weather (lunch not included). Spend a night in Cotopaxi surrounded by volcanoes and beautiful scenery. Accommodation is shared, but a private room upgrade is available.
Cotopaxi - Quilotoa - Baños
Cotopaxi Province - Enjoy breakfast with a stunning view of the volcanoes. Hotel pick-up is provided.
Quilotoa - The first stop is at a traditional moorland house, where visitors can observe guinea pig farming and local agriculture.
Laguna Quilotoa - Upon arrival at Quilotoa, a walk to the lagoon will be undertaken. Various trail options are available, and the best path will be chosen based on difficulty and weather conditions.
Time will be allotted for enjoying a typical lunch in the area (food not included).
Baños - Travel from Quilotoa to Baños, check-in, and enjoy a free evening. In Baños, options include visiting thermal pools or exploring the town. Overnight stay in a shared room at a Baños hotel is included.
Baños - Puyo - Misahualli
La Casa del Arbol - Experience the “Swing at the End of the World” at La Casa del Árbol, offering views of the majestic Mt. Tungurahua Volcano and the expansive Ecuadorian wilderness.
CASCADA EL PAILON - The Devil’s Cauldron Waterfall, or Pailon del Diablo, stands at 262 feet (80 meters) high. Its impressive height is accentuated by the massive volume of water compressed into a narrow channel before cascading off a mountain ledge. The force creates a dramatic bowl where the water meets the mountain, swirling before exiting through a rocky channel to the valley below.
A walk will be taken to get close to the waterfall.
Pastaza River - Enjoy a cable car ride over the Pastaza River, offering extraordinary panoramic views of waterfalls, mountains, and lush jungle landscapes.
Misahualli - Overnight stay in Misahualli, an area surrounded by eco-lodges, providing an opportunity to connect with nature.
Misahualli - Tena - Papallacta - Quito
Misahualli - An early morning tour on the lake offers the chance to observe jungle wildlife, with monkeys being a common sight. Participate in a chocolate tour, where chocolate is prepared with a local community. Harvest your own chocolate and create your own fondue.
Termas de Papallacta - Unwind after an incredible journey through the Andes and the Amazon by visiting Papallacta thermal pools. Access to over 10 pools of hot and cold water is available.
