Sigchos - Enjoy various perspectives of The Gran Toachi River Canyon, located near Sigchos City. This canyon was formed by the Quilotoa Volcano 800 years ago.
Chugchilan - Embark on a hike from Chugchilan Town to Quilotoa Crater, traversing the canyons on the north side of Quilotoa Volcano. Travelers often cherish the experience of interacting with local people in Kichwa communities. There are several routes to choose from, with the longest being 11-12 km (7-7.5 miles).
Quilotoa - Enjoy free time in the community for lunch (not included). Explore the lookouts and the Craft Market.
Crater Loop
Quilotoa - Experience stunning views from Quilotoa crater. During the 10 km (6.2 miles) trek, appreciate the lagoon, valleys, and canyons surrounding the volcano.
Mirador Shalala - Visit the Shalala Lookout, where the community constructed a glass/wood structure to view the lagoon. This lookout was part of the ‘2015 Work of the Year Award’ and was recognized as one of the best architectural works of the year in Spanish-speaking regions. The hike continues to the crater’s highest peak at 3930m (12,893 ft), concluding at the same community where it began.
Volcanic Lagoon
Laguna Quilotoa - “Great Volcano full of water!” After a leisurely 1.7 km path to the lagoon, discover the Lagoon Dock at 3,500m (11,483 ft). The community offers activities such as kayaking, motor boating, or ascending to the community by mule/horse. Inquire about the camping area along the lagoon’s shores.
Quilotoa - Enjoy free time for lunch (not included) and prepare for the return to Quito (or the city where the tour began). Drop-off at your hotel.
