Description:
Travelers will have the opportunity to explore Pico Ruivo, the second highest mountain in Portugal, on a breathtaking and renowned trail that has been in existence for over 200 years. Guests will embark on the PR1.2 trail from the Achada do Teixeira parking lot to Pico Ruivo. This hike will take approximately 4 hours, allowing ample time to reach the second highest peak in Portugal and return. The total distance covered is 5 km (approximately 2.5 km uphill and 2.5 km downhill). The elevation gain is around 250 meters. This is a self-guided hike, and participants will receive a map, hiking instructions, and a schedule for pick-up. At the end of the trail, guests will find the Mountain Spot Cafe, where drinks and meals are available. Restroom facilities are also available for both guests and non-guests of the restaurant, with a fee of 0.5 cents.
