The region primarily grows two types of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta. Historically, coffee cultivation was introduced by the British and subsequently adopted by the local Coorg community as a commercial venture.

Today, coffee is widely cultivated throughout Coorg. It is well-established that Coorg’s Robusta is among the finest globally, with significant exports, particularly to Europe.

The Plantation tour offers a comprehensive look into coffee cultivation, following the journey of the coffee bean from plantation to cup. It begins with a brief walk through the plantation, where visitors discover the growth stages of coffee plants, from seedlings in nurseries to their planting and harvesting in the fields. The tour concludes with a visit to the host’s home, where participants explore different blends and savor the unique flavors of Coorg’s coffee. This tour is led by a local farmer with over 20 years of cultivation experience.
