A MUST DO when in Madrid! - There are no words to adequately describe the delight and fun of this paella cooking class. The market tour was tasty for both the mouth and the mind. Truly educational and so much fun! Chefs Benji and Claudia generously shared their passion and expertise with the class and while it was a terrific opportunity to cook and enjoy every sensory delight of making paella, their real focus was on assuring we had an experience of starting as strangers but leaving as friends bonded by the joy of an afternoon sharing stories, music, delicious food, and lovely wine. I don’t often write reviews, but I could not miss this chance to give a shout out to Benji and Claudia for the utter treat of this experience. Your trip to Madrid is not complete without the gift of time spent cooking with these two special people and thrilling at the delicious results!!

One of the Most Joyful Experiences We Had in Madrid - Cook Paella, Drink Wine, Eat Together - We had such a fun experience at Cooking Clubhouse that it ended up being one of the highlights of our visit to Madrid. From the moment we arrived, Javier and the team made everyone feel welcome. The whole experience was joyful, relaxed, and delicious. The class lasts ~ 3 hours, which is the perfect amount of time to cook, learn, and enjoy the meal together. There were about 14 people in our class, which felt like an ideal group size. We came with a group of 6, and the experience naturally brings everyone together. The cooking is hands-on and beginner friendly. You cook in pairs while the team acts as your sous chefs, so the prep work is already done and you can focus on learning how to make paella. Javier also shared the history of paella and Spanish cuisine, which made the experience even more interesting. We made several types of paella including seafood, chicken, squid, and vegetarian and the mushroom vegetarian paella was one of our favorites. And yes, the wine is bottomless, which definitely adds to the festive atmosphere. After cooking, everyone headed downstairs to eat together in a beautiful historic brick cellar dining room. The communal table made it easy to talk with everyone, and we were also served additional tapas and dessert along with the paellas we had all prepared. It felt less like a class and more like a dinner party. The location is also quite convenient, not too far from Museo del Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, and a short walk from Atocha Railway Station, so it’s easy to combine with sightseeing. Perfect for: couples, families, groups of friends, or solo travelers. A few solo travelers joined our class and the communal cooking and dining made it easy for everyone to connect. If you’re looking for a cooking class in Madrid, this is absolutely worth booking. After several days exploring Madrid, our group agreed that was one of the most interactive, authentic, and truly memorable experiences of our trip. Highly recommend. Tip: Come hungry and ready to have fun. It feels less like a class and more like a joyful dinner party where everyone cooks and eats together.

Great class! A must to experience the culture - My friend and I had the best experience learning to make paella! My friend who has dietary restrictions and isn’t much of a cook, enjoyed it immensely. Was one of the top highlights of our trip to Madrid must do.
