Wonderful Local Tour - We were on the Carnival Jubilee in July and stopped in Costa Maya on a Wednesday. I wanted to take my kids to see the Chacchoben Mayan ruins. We booked this excursion through Viator since it was private and included a beach stop. We traveled with two female adults and two children after one of our party was too tired from the previous day. The pickup timing was very flexible. Jhonny ended up waiting for us since we got a late start. We must have just missed him (bathroom break?) as we passed security and proceeded to the Google Maps meeting point, which was a little off from the correct area. The meeting spot is just past the security gate where a group of guides will be located with signs. Jhonny had a large sign with my name on it. Jhonny was a wonderful guide! The car was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the air conditioning on a long car ride in July. Jhonny dealt with the Chacchoben tickets and walked with us through the ruins, providing some historical information. We saw wild spider monkeys and really enjoyed our time there. We weren't exactly sure what we wanted to do other than the ruins, so he provided suggestions along the way. We stopped for local pineapple and dragon fruit, stopped at a local shop for a tequila tasting, and then proceeded to the beach. Jhonny works with a wonderful local restaurant, where we were able to choose a table and/or beach chairs. We ordered margaritas, guacamole, grilled garlic shrimp, and grilled fresh red snapper (which came with a variety of sides). Everything was delicious! I was worried it would be too much food, but my kids loved the snapper and devoured everything. Once we were ready to leave, Jhonny returned us back to the cruise terminal. Drop off is closer than pick up since you can go past the security gate. We would definitely use the service again! Thank you Jhonny!

Loved Jhonny and what a Great Day! - Great day with Jhonny. He was a sweetheart. We paid for a guide at the ruins but didn’t mind and Johnny just thought they knew so much so we went for it. Also had a great afternoon on the beach. Great food, cold drinks, shops, and even a massage. A great day.

Johnny was amazing!! - Johnny was the man!! He wrote our name on a white board so we can easily find him when we exit the gate. He took us on a fully air condition drive to the ruin. That meant a lot in the 90* weather. Once we get to the ruin, Johnny personally took us into the ruin, we did not have to pay extra for a tour guide at the gate. He took our family photos and very engaging the whole time. On the way back he also stop by the side of the road where we can grab some local pineapple and coconut. He ended our tour by taking us to the beach with excellent food and service!!! Highly recommended 👌

Our Ship skipped the Port! - We planned & booked this experience and even paid a deposit. However, with just a week's notice, our Cruise Ship - The Scarlett Lady changed our port from Costa Maya to Belize. I spoke with Jhonny and he refunded the deposit with no questions asked. I will definitely book with them again if we ever get to Costa Maya.

Royal Caribbean Day Visit - Jhonny was an exceptional tour guide. He was waiting for us with my name on a white board so we could find him as soon as we exited the port. We first went to the Chacchoben Ruins (45 min drive) to explore (bonus, we saw monkeys!). We then asked for lunch off of the beaten path and he took us to a friend's restaurant. The ambiance may not have been for everyone but we enjoyed the food tremendously. Way better then port/resort food. After lunch was the beach. We stayed for an hour even though he said we could stay for 2 hours if we wanted. Conversation was good. Taxi was clean and we managed to fit 4 large teens and 2 adults. Thank you for a wonderful visit to Costa Maya, Jhonny!

More like 'transportation' and not 'tour' - There was nothing wrong with this, but I wouldn't call this a tour at all. It is just a driver who takes you to the ruins and walks around with you. He didn't comment on the ruins other than friendly small talk. I HIGHLY recommend getting one of the local guides for another $40-45 pre group when you go in if you want to know anything about the ruins as the info signs are very minimal as well. Other than that, it was easy to meet the deover and they were very mindful of our cruise time constraints.

Misleading - Tour guide was not a tour guide but just a driver. He drove us to ruins and left us with almost no information. Despite asking which beach we will be taken to we were not mentioned. Eventually took us to some random place which was not a beach at all. We were asked to spend time near a shop that driver had some connection. There is another story on the attitude of shop owner.
