Setting Sail on a St. Lucian Adventure

The Caribbean has always been my playground, a place where the ocean’s embrace feels like home. So when I heard about the Land & Sea Tour in St. Lucia, I knew it was time to trade my surfboard for a speedboat and explore the island from a different perspective. The day began with a sense of anticipation as our group of 14 gathered on the beach, the sun casting a golden glow over the water. Our guide, Louie, greeted us with a warm smile and a promise of adventure. As we boarded the 42-foot speedboat, the twin 350 engines roared to life, and we were off, skimming across the waves towards Soufriere.

The journey was exhilarating, the wind in my hair and the salt spray on my skin a familiar and welcome sensation. Our first stop was the Sulphur Springs, where we indulged in a mud bath that left our skin feeling rejuvenated and our spirits lifted. The warm, mineral-rich mud was like a gritty lotion, and as I coated myself in it, I couldn’t help but laugh at the transformation into a “mud monster.”

A Taste of St. Lucia

After rinsing off in the refreshing waterfall, we headed to a local restaurant for a taste of St. Lucian cuisine. The buffet-style spread was a feast for the senses, with vibrant colors and rich aromas that promised a culinary adventure. As I savored the local creole dishes, I felt a deep connection to the island’s culture and history. The flavors were bold and exciting, much like the island itself.

With our appetites satisfied, we returned to the speedboat and set off for Sugar Beach. The snorkeling here was nothing short of spectacular. The protected reef was teeming with life, and as I floated above the vibrant coral, I spotted eels, puffer fish, and even a lion fish. Our captain, Devin, and crew member, Terry, were the perfect hosts, sharing their knowledge and passion for the island with infectious enthusiasm.
