The singletrack section of the Backbone Trail from Encinal to Yerba Buena Rd. near Neptune’s offers some of the finest biking experiences in Malibu. This trail features a thrilling mix of fast technical segments, continuous flow, and breathtaking ocean views! It’s an absolute must-ride! This part of the Backbone Trail is incredibly diverse. One moment, riders find themselves in a lush forest, and the next, they’re traversing a mountainside with expansive mountain views stretching as far as the eye can see! The panoramic vistas from the peaks of these Malibu mountains are truly spectacular!

The journey’s destination and rest stop will be near Sandstone Peak, where riders can take a brief pause to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Malibu Buttes. The loop back to Encinal Road promises to be an exhilarating experience, with the singletrack running alongside the canyon, offering endless ocean views. The final section of this ride features fast flow with high berms, reminiscent of those found in a bike park.
