- Bahrain National Museum - The Bahrain National Museum, one of the Gulf’s pioneering museums, opened its doors in 1988. Its location by the sea is a major draw, enhancing its modern atmosphere with a striking white travertine façade and a dramatic courtyard adorned with contemporary sculptures. The exhibition halls display artifacts from Bahrain’s numerous archaeological sites, highlighting the island’s rich history spanning 6000 years. Besides archaeological exhibits, two halls are dedicated to local customs and traditions, showcasing clothing, housing, rituals, and traditional crafts.
- Al-Fatih Mosque (Great Mosque) - The Ahmed Al Fateh Grand Mosque, set against a backdrop of palm trees and the sea, presents a stunning view. Its exquisite Bahraini architecture is topped by the world’s largest fiberglass dome, offering a serene atmosphere befitting a sacred place. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome, but modest dress is required, with women needing to cover their heads and everyone removing their shoes before entering.
- Beit Al Qur’an - Bait Al Quran houses one of the world’s most treasured collections. The museum features ten exhibition halls displaying rare books, manuscripts, and other religious artifacts. Manuscripts from non-Islamic countries like China and Spain are also featured, alongside those from Islamic nations. Calligraphy, an essential aspect of Islamic culture, is showcased through works by master calligraphers.
- Moda Mall - Bahrain World Trade Center - The Bahrain World Trade Center (Photo Stop) stands at 240m (787ft) tall. This twin tower complex in Manama, completed in 2008, is the first skyscraper globally to incorporate wind turbines into its design.
- King Fahd Causeway - The King Fahad Causeway, opened in 1986, is an impressive 25km engineering marvel connecting Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It ranks among the world’s most expensive bridges. The causeway crosses Umm Al Nasan Island, a wildlife sanctuary, and features a facility area with a tower restaurant at the midpoint, accessible even if you don’t travel the entire distance to Saudi Arabia.
Note: The tower is currently under reconstruction.
