It served as the summer capital for the British governor and other officials during the colonial era and was a favored retreat for Europeans escaping the heat. At an elevation of over 1,000 meters (3,250 feet), it offers fresh, cool air and features numerous colonial buildings. Just a 2-hour drive from Mandalay, the Governor’s House stands as a prime example of colonial architecture. Natural attractions like Pyeik Chin Miang Cave and BE Waterfall provide refreshing air and scenic views, while the Mahar Anthookater Paya offers a panoramic view of Pyin Oo Lwin. The National Kandawgyi Botanical Garden is another highlight, resembling a natural park.
The day begins at 8:30 am with a 2-hour drive to Pyin Oo Lwin. Upon arrival, the first stop is the Governor’s House, a British colonial building, followed by a visit to Mahar Anthookatar Paya for a view of the town. Next, the journey continues to Pyeik Chin Miang Waterfall. After returning, lunch is enjoyed at December Restaurant. The afternoon includes a visit to BE Waterfall, concluding with a trip to the National Kandawgyi Botanical Garden.
