Setting Sail on Major Tom

The day began with a gentle breeze and the promise of adventure as I boarded the tender that would take me to Major Tom, our vessel for the day. The skipper, a laid-back yet professional soul, welcomed us aboard with a warm smile and a quick rundown of the day’s itinerary. As we set sail from Port Havannah, the 360-degree views were nothing short of breathtaking. The ocean, a vast expanse of blue, seemed to stretch endlessly, inviting us to explore its hidden treasures.

Our first stop was a secluded bay, perfect for snorkeling. As I slipped into the water, I was immediately greeted by a vibrant underwater world. Turtles glided gracefully through the water, and schools of colorful fish darted around the coral. It was a mesmerizing sight, one that reminded me of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place. The hour and a half we spent snorkeling flew by, leaving me eager for more.

A Feast on the Waves

Back on board, the crew had prepared a sumptuous buffet BBQ lunch. The aroma of teriyaki chicken and sausages wafted through the air, mingling with the salty sea breeze. As I savored each bite, I couldn’t help but appreciate the simple pleasures of life at sea. The food was delicious, and the company even better. We shared stories and laughter, all while taking in the stunning views that surrounded us.

After lunch, we had some free time to relax. I found a cozy spot on one of the luxurious day beds and let the gentle rocking of the boat lull me into a state of bliss. For those feeling more adventurous, there were kayaks and paddleboards available, but I was content to simply soak in the moment.

Dolphins and Rainbows

Our second snorkeling spot was at a plane wreck, a hauntingly beautiful site teeming with marine life. Thousands of fish swirled around the wreck, creating a living tapestry of color and movement. It was a surreal experience, one that left me in awe of the ocean’s wonders.

As we sailed back to Port Havannah, a pod of dolphins joined us, leaping and playing alongside the boat. It was a magical moment, one that seemed to encapsulate the spirit of the day. Just as we reached the shore, a rainbow appeared, arching across the sky in a perfect display of nature’s beauty.

Reflecting on the day, I couldn’t help but agree with my fellow travelers: this was indeed the highlight of our trip. Despite a brief moment of sadness at the island village, where the state of some of the dogs tugged at my heartstrings, the overall experience was unforgettable.
