- North Head - North Head boasts pristine heathland, featuring seasonal wildflowers, and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entrance to Sydney Harbour.
This headland is a tied island connected to Manly by a sandspit and includes historic military buildings, a memorial walk, and a former quarantine station.
- Barrenjoey Lighthouse - At Palm Beach, visitors can walk to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, constructed in 1881. This well-preserved sandstone lighthouse dominates the headland.
The walk to the lighthouse offers stunning coastal views of Pittwater and Lion Island, along with fascinating sandstone formations and Australian bushland.
After visiting the lighthouse, there is an opportunity to drive along Palm Beach and possibly stop at Summer Bay for fans of the long-running TV series, Home and Away.
The journey continues along a scenic back route showcasing beautiful coastal landscapes.
- Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden - A living masterpiece! Wendy’s garden is a tranquil spot to appreciate exquisite landscaping, lush plants, and views of Sydney Harbour.
- Paddington Reservoir Gardens - The Paddington Reservoir is a submerged structure built in 1864, with a second chamber added in 1876.
Originally constructed to store water pumped from a dam at the Botany swamps, the reservoir’s columns were made from ironbark timber and supported segmental brick arches.
The reservoir operated until 1899, after which it served as a storage facility and later as a service station for several decades. However, its roof collapsed, and it ceased operating as a service station in 1990.
In 2006, restoration work began to transform the reservoir into a reimagined space. Original brick, iron, and timber fixtures were preserved, and the former water storage area now features a serene space with a roof garden, a small pool, and a grassed area, along with stairs for access.
The area is occasionally used for wedding photography.
The Paddington Reservoir is a peaceful oasis and a remarkable restoration project.
- Barangaroo Reserve - Barangaroo is an inner-city suburb of Sydney located on the northwest side of Sydney’s CBD.
Once a container wharf area, it has been transformed into a vibrant residential and commercial hub.
The suburb spans 22 hectares and includes a 6-hectare headland park (Barangaroo Reserve), completed in 2015.
The reserve is essentially an artificial hill, though it certainly doesn’t appear as one.
Created through ingenious engineering and earthworks, it features a massive void known as The Cutaway beneath the parkland.
The roof of The Cutaway required the fabrication, transportation, and installation of enormous concrete spans, supporting thousands of cubic meters of rock, soil, grass, and trees.
The Cutaway offers a unique venue for cultural events, exhibitions, television shoots, food events, and large gatherings.
This visit includes a delightful walk along a flat path around the reserve, providing stunning harbour views.
