Maputo Elephant Reserve (Reserva Especial de Maputo) - Embark on an unforgettable 2-day, 1-night adventure to enjoy the beach, a safari, and the Maputo National Park Chalets. Situated on Maputo Bay, 100 kilometers from Maputo, this conservation area spans 1,040 km², just 173 km² smaller than New York City (including water and land areas). The reserve features lakes, wetlands, swamp forests, grasslands, mangrove forests, and a pristine coastline.
There are two main beach camping spots at Maputo Special Reserve: Dobela and Membene. As you drive through the reserve towards the campsite, you’ll encounter vast open spaces where elephants and other plains game refresh themselves. You’ll also pass by various freshwater lagoons teeming with a diverse array of birds, hippos, and crocodiles.
