wonderful visit at Yerette hummingbird estate - warm welcome and amazing birds - I was very warmly welcomed ay Yerette, home of the hummingbird, at the house and garden of the owners. The Hummingbirds fly in and out, the santuary is located in the natural environment of the Hummingbirds. I was able to take some amazing photos with my camera and zoom lense.

Great relaxing tour - This was my 3rd visit and didn't disappoint. Theo, the master hummingbird historian and former lecturer of UWI was in fine form again sharing plenty of knowledge on hummingbirds and Gloria prepared a well-seasoned and delicious meals. Of course, the hummingbirds were actively flying around and creative a relaxed atmosphere.

Visit a the Yrette Garden, Home of the Hummingbirds - My wife and I, visited the incredible garden of Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson, in April 2025. The first minute we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly smile of Mrs. Ferguson informing us that her husband Theo was coming. Theo welcomed us and briefly described his garden and bird population encounter in his location. Throughout the year, 15 species of hummingbirds visit the feeders out of 17 species living on the island of Trinidad. During the next two hours we had the freedom to walk across his garden and Theo was always available to answer any of our inquisition. We video recorded 9 species of hummingbirds within a 10 foot distance. We also filmed several other birds visiting the feeders: like Purple Honeycreeper, Yellow Oriole, Bananaquit, Crested Oropendola and local finches. We had the pleasure to meet with Theo friend Mr. Ricardo Meade who is the director of the Trinidad Wildlife Conservation Center for the past 20 years. With 50 nectar feeders and a multitude of flowering plants, the garden is teeming with hummingbirds ,including the colorful Ruby Topaz and and the amazing Thrilled Coquette. It is paradise for photographer and hummer lovers. We were so pleased, that we returned to visit the Ferguson's again after a very disappointing one day stay at the new remodeled Asa Wright Centre. A very expensive place with a noisy viewing terrace supposably built for birdwatching is used as a bar lounge, disturbing the peace and making it impossible to film. I do not recommend this place for wildlife ,unless if you have a bachelor party on the deck. I would not hesitate to return to Yrette garden. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson were the kindest people we met during our birding tour in Trinidad. If you visit the island and love Hummingbirds, do not miss the opportunity, you will remember the small bird world for the rest of your life. Gloria and Theo, Merci for the experience. It must be seen with your own eyes, otherwise you will not understand the miracle there! - A beautiful place, two people dedicated to their passion, the story behind that place, true nature and that tiny, amazing creature: hummingbird. Once in a lifetime opportunity!

Hummingbirds by the dozens - Lovely garden with about 10 species of hummingbirds. Multiple feeders as well as flowering plants make this a great place to view the hummers. Theo gives a rather long talk, interesting and informative but long. You want to listed while watching the garden as there is so much activity.

A fascinating insight - This was a great first trip to balance the noise of Port of Spain. The tour was well organised despite the recent loss of Mr Nick, a major character in the team. The hummingbird birds are wonderful, up close and everywhere. The conversation was interesting and lunch was a delicious corn soup with salad and garlic bread, thank you Mrs Theo.
