- Parque de Marinilla - Colombia stands as the world’s most diverse country in fruit production, cultivating over 430 varieties across its landscape.
This is why it’s recommended to visit a fruit stand to sample some of the most delectable options.
During this brief stop, a visit to a farmers’ market is planned, offering a chance to experience a non-touristy environment. Here, a variety of exotic fruits with intense sour or sweet flavors, some of which may be unfamiliar, are provided.
This stop lasts approximately 20 minutes and is conveniently located on the way to Guatape. Guests have thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and it is anticipated that you will too.
It’s also an excellent opportunity to stretch your legs after an hour of sitting in the car before reaching the replica town, the next destination.
- Piedra Del Penol - The journey from the fruit stand to the rock takes about 35 minutes and is filled with stunning views of kale plantations, onions, sugar cane, coffee, tomatoes, and numerous mountain silhouettes.
During the drive, the history of the rock is shared, including its components, ownership, climbing history, and other fascinating facts.
Upon arrival, there is an opportunity to climb the rock. It consists of 749 steps and takes approximately 50 minutes to ascend and descend.
At the summit, visitors can stay as long as they wish to enjoy one of the most breathtaking views imaginable.
This sentiment is echoed by hundreds of tourists who have visited.
At the top, several shops offer water, beer, and various items, providing a place to relax and appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands, and country houses.
When ready to descend, the group will be prepared to continue the adventure to one of the country’s most colorful towns: Guatape.
- Guatape - The final stop is Guatapé, one of Colombia’s most authentic and picturesque towns.
Named after an indigenous chief, this town has preserved the Zocalos tradition. But what are Zocalos? It’s a stunning artistic colonial tradition that the people of Guatapé have elevated to new heights.
In this town, lunch is enjoyed at a very authentic location with a view of the lake, followed by the opportunity to savor fresh and authentic Colombian coffee, renowned for its quality from the coffee region.
After lunch and coffee, a guided tour is offered, where the guide explains the meaning of the zocalos and the town’s history in more detail.
Visitors explore places like the church with its beautiful wooden ceiling, Zocalos Square, and Remembrance Street.
These 8 hours promise to be informative, enjoyable, and culturally enriching, combined with exquisite traditional meals, making it a memorable experience.
