Marrakech - Upon arrival, transfer from the airport to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the city of Marrakech.
MARRAKECH - AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE
Ouarzazate - After enjoying breakfast at your riad, depart from Marrakech towards Ouarzazate via the Tizi n Tichka pass, admiring the stunning hills and mountains of the Atlas. There will be stops for photographs, and a detour to Telouet to visit the magnificent Glaoui Kasbah. After exploring the Kasbah, take a stroll through the charming villages and landscapes of the Atlas. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, proceed to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where the geography and beautiful scenery have attracted many renowned filmmakers. Visit the studios with props from films like The Mummy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. Then, explore the Kasbah Taourirt, another Glaoui family Kasbah, before checking in at your Riad.
Aït Benhaddou - Aït Benhaddou is a historic ksar along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. It is a prime example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
OUARZAZATE - DADES VALLEY - TODRA GORGE - ERFOUD - ERG CHEBBI
Vallee Des Roses - Known for its rose distillery, producing rose water and essential oils, as well as cosmetic products. One of the distillation units in Kelaat M’gouna is named sté Florose. The city is also famous for its “Ahidouss” dancers and beautiful roses, earning it the nickname “The Valley of the Roses.”
Tinghir - The Todgha Gorges are a series of limestone river canyons in the eastern High Atlas Mountains near Tinerhir. The Todgha and Dades Rivers have carved these deep cliff-sided canyons over their final 40 kilometers through the mountains.
ERG CHEBBI - ZIZ VALLEY - MIDELT - AZROU - IFRAN - FEZ
Fes - After breakfast, travel through the vast Ziz Valley, home to millions of palm trees, to Errachidia. Drive through the Ziz Gorges and the Middle Atlas, enjoying the beautiful views. Stop for lunch in Midelt. Afterward, continue to Fez, passing through the cedar forest of Azrou, the largest in Morocco, and pause for photos with Barbary monkeys. Proceed to Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” for its European-style architecture. Arrive in Fez in the afternoon and settle into your riad.
VISIT OF FEZ: GUIDED CITY TOUR OF FES
Fes - Begin the day by visiting the city’s main monuments and historical sites, including Medersa Bouaananiya and the University of Karaouiyine, the oldest university. Visit the king’s palace, enjoy a panoramic view of Fez, and explore the old Berber markets in the ancient city. Overnight at the Riad.
FES - MEKNES - VOLUBILIS - RABAT
Meknes Medina - Meknes, a city in northern Morocco, is known for its imperial history, with landmarks like Bab Mansour, a grand gate with arches and mosaic tiling, leading into the former imperial city. The Mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made Meknes his capital in the 17th century, features courtyards and fountains. To the south, the ruins of Heri es-Souani, once used as stables and for food storage, can be found.
Volubilis - Visible from the nearby holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoune and from higher points throughout the valley, Volubilis is one of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins, located between the Imperial Cities of Fez and Meknes on a fertile plain surrounded by wheat fields.
RABAT – CASABLANCA - MARRAKECH
Rabat Old Town - In the 10th century, the Umayyads of Cordoba, or their Zenata Berber allies, established a ribat or fortified monastery/outpost in this area to defend against the Barghawata Berbers, who had formed a Kharijite state to the south. This ribat was likely on the site of the current Kasbah of the Udayas, though its exact location remains unconfirmed by historians.
Hassan II Mosque - Commissioned by King Hassan II to be Morocco’s most ambitious structure, the mosque was designed by French architect Michel Pinseau and constructed by Bouygues. Work began on July 12, 1986, and took seven years to complete, with 1,400 men working by day and 1,100 by night. 10,000 artists and craftsmen contributed to the mosque’s construction and decoration.
Marrakech - After breakfast, dedicate the day to exploring Rabat with a guided tour, visiting the Kasbah of the Udayas, erected by a formidable tribe of predators in the 12th century. Visit the Hassan Tower, where four facades are uniquely decorated, three in pink stone and one in gray due to the sea breeze, along with the remains of the old mosque and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V next to the tower. After touring Rabat, drive via the highway to Casablanca. Upon arrival, visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque after Mecca, known for its stunning architecture. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant on the Corniche before continuing to Marrakech.
The tour concludes.
Jardin Majorelle - The gardens and buildings form a complex, with specific buildings dedicated to various museums and exhibits of interest to visitors. The gardens, spanning two and a half acres, are open to the public daily and feature a significant collection of cacti and sculptures. Majorelle’s former studio workshop once housed the Islamic Art Museum of Marrakech, showcasing North African textiles from Saint-Laurent’s personal collection, as well as ceramics and jewelry. Since 2011, the villa has been home to the Berber Museum (Musée Pierre Bergé des Arts Berbères), displaying objects of Amazigh (Berber) culture. The villa also contains a collection of Majorelle’s paintings.
