Marrakech - The driver will collect you at 08:00 am from your hotel or the nearest car access point, beginning your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes. The journey heads towards the Dades Gorges, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains at an altitude of 2260m, offering expansive views of the mountains and traditional High Atlas Berber villages.
Ait Ben Haddou - Next, visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, a popular filming location for movies like “Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and scenes from the renowned TV series “Game of Thrones.” Lunch will be enjoyed at a restaurant at the base of the Kasbahs. Afterward, travel to Ouarzazate with an option to explore the Atlas Studios and Taourirt Kasbah, then continue to Dades Gorges through the extensive palm groves of Skoura and the rose valley along the M’Goun river. The Damascena rose, introduced to Morocco centuries ago by a Berber merchant from Damascus, blooms between April and mid-May.
Dades Gorges - Taking a detour from the main road, drive up the Dades Valley to reach the hotel, with stops to admire the stunning valley views and a unique rock formation known as “The monkey feet.” Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Dades.
Day 2: Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Erfoud - Risani - Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. 304km
Merzouga - After breakfast, continue driving south. Berber villages such as Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud are scattered along the route, marking the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet and its vast arid plateaus. Upon arrival in Merzouga, a short off-road drive leads to the edge of the golden dunes where camels await. Luggage will be transported by a 4x4 vehicle to the camp, while you enjoy a delightful camel ride over the sand dunes, witnessing a breathtaking desert sunset en route to the camp. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed with tea and smiles. Your comfortable private tents, equipped with ensuite bathrooms and showers, will be ready for you to relax before dinner. After a delicious meal, a fire will be lit, creating a festive atmosphere with musical performances by the staff and cameleers under the starry desert sky.
Day 3: Merzouga - Erfoud - Errachidia - Midelt - Cedar Forest (monkeys) - Fes. 532km
Fes - An early morning wake-up is recommended to experience the stunning sunrise from the dunes. Enjoy breakfast at the camp, then pack and return either by camel or 4x4, leaving the dunes behind. On the paved roads, head north towards Fes via the High Atlas Mountains. The journey includes passing through Erfoud, Errachidia, and Midelt.
