Begin the day early by crossing the High Atlas Mountains to reach the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters.
- Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou - Proceed to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This location has been featured in numerous films, including The Mummy, Gladiator, 7 Days in Tibet, Alexander the Great, and Babel.
- Ouarzazate - Continue to Ouarzazate, with a possible stop at the Kasbah of Taourirt and the film studios if time permits. The journey then advances to the Dadès Valley along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs.
- Dades Gorges - The route passes through the picturesque village of Skoura and the rose-growing area of Kalaat M’Gouna. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in Dades Gorge upon arrival.
- Gargantas del Todra - DAY 2: Travel from Boumalen Dades to Tinghir, Todra Gorge, Arfoud, and Merzouga Dunes.
Set off in the morning towards the Merzouga dunes. After Tinghir, explore the groves before entering the Todra Gorge. The limestone cliffs resemble an opening carved through the Todra Assif, with dramatic peaks descending to the river’s edge.
- Merzouga - The peaks rise up to 300 meters above the Todra River, which originates from the High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the gorges and palm groves. After lunch, continue to the palm groves of Tinjedad, Touroug, and Erfoud.
The journey then leads to Merzouga, where a camel ride across the breathtaking dunes of Erg Chebbi awaits, along with a sunset view. The sand dunes are dynamic masterpieces shaped like draperies, with colors that change based on the light’s intensity. They stand as living walls beside the desert, with the tallest reaching up to 150 meters. At night, nomadic tents are used for accommodation.
- Azrou - Encounter the wild Barbary apes in Azrou’s cedar forest.
- Ifrane - Pause in this charming town to capture some beautiful photographs.
