Ait Ben Haddou - The guide will lead a visit to The ksar Ait Benhaddou, a collection of earthen structures encircled by tall walls, representing a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses are closely packed within the fortified walls, which are strengthened by corner towers. Located in Ouarzazate province, Ait-Ben-Haddou is a remarkable example of southern Moroccan architecture.
Taourirt Kasbah - There will be a stop for photos, with an option to explore Taourirt Kasbah in 30 minutes. Originally constructed in the 19th century, the Taourirt Kasbah was owned by the el Glaoui clan, a family that controlled one of Morocco’s key southern caravan routes to West Africa. This influence and wealth made the clan one of the nation’s most powerful families. Its most prominent member was Thami El Glaoui, also known as the Lord of the Atlas, who served as the Pasha of Marrakech from 1912 to 1956.
Draa Valley - The Draa Valley is a breathtaking oasis featuring Berber villages, magnificent Kasbahs, flowing sand dunes, verdant plains, snow-capped Atlas Mountains, endless palm groves, and the Draa, Morocco’s largest river.
Zagora - Tamegroute - Mhamid - Erg Chegaga
Tamegroute - The potteries of Tamegroute, a significant artisanal activity in the Draa Valley, are renowned and crafted using an ancient technique brought from Fez.
With expertise in the secrets of earth and fire, the potters skillfully operate the wheel with their feet. They create pottery that, once shaped, is sun-dried, transforming the earth into essential everyday items.
Tamegroute hosts a renowned zaouïa, established in the seventeenth century by theologian Ahmed Ali Ansari Al Tamgrout. His son, the scholar Mohammed ben Nassir, founder of the Nasiriya brotherhood, is buried there, with his tomb located within the mosque’s enclosure.
Visitors can enter the mosque’s large courtyard, but only Muslims may access the zaouïa enclosure, which now serves as a welcome center for pilgrims and those in need.
Erg Chigaga - Erg Chigaga dunes offer a journey through various desert features; ‘Erg’, ‘Reg’, ‘Hammadas, and oases. These dunes are remote from civilization, and the silence of the sand is profound.
Ride camels across the dunes and witness one of the most spectacular sunsets over the color-changing sand dunes. Enjoy a delightful dinner under the stars by the campfire, entertained by local nomads playing traditional music.
Erg Chegaga - Foum Zguid - Taznakht - Taliouine - Taroudant.
Tazenakht - After breakfast, depart for Taroudant (often called “small Marrakech”) via the track between Erg Chegaga and the dry Draa riverbed, passing Lake Iriqui, then Foum Zguid, and continue by road through Taznakht, the carpet capital of Morocco. Visit the carpet cooperative for insights into the area’s various carpet types. After a lunch break, continue to Taroudant, passing through the saffron valley of Taliouine, and arrive at the hotel in Taroudant for dinner and an overnight stay.
