MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE

High Atlas Mountains - Guests are collected from their hotel or riad in Marrakesh and set off at 8am to journey through the High Atlas Mountains.

Telouet Kasbah - Following a breathtaking drive along the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, a detour is made to the Telouet Kasbah, a stunning example of Moorish architecture. This kasbah, once owned by the Glaoui family, the Lords of the Atlas, now stands in ruins after the last Pasha left the country when the French exited Morocco.

Ait Ben Haddou - The journey continues to Ait Ben Haddou for lunch. This renowned Kasbah in Morocco is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has been the backdrop for films such as Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and parts of Game of Thrones.

Ouarzazate - The day concludes in Ouarzazate where the night is spent.

OUARZAZATE – M’HAMID

Tamnougalt - After breakfast, the trip proceeds to Agdz to explore the Kasbah Tamnougalt before taking the ancient caravan route between the river and the mountains.

Zagora - The route passes through numerous villages, farms, palm groves, and gardens. Upon reaching the Zagora oasis, lunch is enjoyed in the town, famous for its exceptional dates.

Tamegroute - Post-lunch, the journey continues to Tamegroute to visit a traditional ceramic workshop, exhibition center, and Quranic library.

M’Hamid - The drive then leads to M’hamid, the entrance to the Moroccan Sahara desert.

Erg Chigaga - A one- to two-hour camel ride to Erg Chigaga, the tallest dune, offers a memorable sunset experience. The night is spent in a nomad tent near the dunes of Erg Lihoudi, with dinner and entertainment by local musicians.

M’HAMID – CHEGAGA

Erg Chigaga - After breakfast, the tour returns to town to visit the ancient kasbah of M’hamid, then travels 60km through diverse desert landscapes including ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, and oasis. Lunch is at an oasis before continuing to the Erg Chegaga dunes, the largest in Morocco, standing approximately 300m high and 35 km long. A camel ride to the base of the dunes provides a stunning view of the sunset, followed by a return to the bivouac at the dunes’ base.

ERG CHEGAGA – MARRAKESH

Erg Chigaga - After breakfast at Chegaga, a 4WD journey through the desert covers 90 km, passing Lake Iriqui, desert mountains, and fossil sites.

Foum Zguid - Lunch is in Foum Zguid, the first village after the desert, where a refreshing shower is also available.

Ouarzazate - The return trip to Ouarzazate includes a stop in the village of Taznakht, known for its Berber carpets and rugs. A visit to a local Berber carpet cooperative allows observation of the process from dyeing raw wool to spinning fibers and weaving carpets or rugs.

Marrakech - The journey concludes with a drive across the High Atlas mountains back to Marrakech, where the night is spent in a riad or hotel.
