Amazing Agafay desert experience - I booked this trip from home with a priority of ensuring we were in a small group and willing to pay more to achieve this. We were not disappointed and the trip surpassed our expectations. We were picked up in an air conditioned vehicle just the 6 of us, there had been a miscommunication on time of pick up so we were target hit in the 44 degree heat, our lovely driver stopped to buy us some extra cold waters which was much appreciated. It took about an hour to go from the medina to the camp, the camp itself we thought was perfect, deep enough into the desert for it to be truly wild, enough amenities (with excellent toilet facilities) but not too polished (so no swimming pool…). We sat on arrival in a sheltered area having freshly brewed mint tea and more water, there were two other small groups at the camp but no more than 15 in total. We had booked the sunset camel ride which meant a whole hour trip rather than 20 mins which one of the other groups had booked. We were dressed in traditional robes then got onto our camels. The camel ride was spectacular, we were led to a beautiful ridge to watch the sun go down, just incredible. We all felt very safe and the guide took lots of photos for us. Back at camp we were taken to a beautifully decorated tent, open at one side with traditional low tables and seats. A beautiful meal was served, 4 types of Moroccan salad, lemon chicken tagine and vegetable tagine, followed by watermelon. The chicken literally fell from the bone and was incredibly moist. We had all been suffering from food poisoning so were not able to eat too much which made us feel very poor guests. A very fun and interactive music performance as well as fire shower followed before our return to Marrakech. Cannot recommend enough!

Amazing - I had an amazing experience during my camel ride, dinner, and fire show in Agafay Desert, and a big part of that was thanks to our incredible tour guide, Amal. She was pleasant, informative, and patient throughout the entire evening. She took the time to explain the cultural significance of what we were seeing and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.
She even took photos for me, which I really appreciated as a solo traveler. She constantly checked in to ensure I stayed cool and hydrated — which goes a long way in the Moroccan heat. Her attention to detail and genuine care made the experience even more enjoyable.
When I return to Marrakech, I will absolutely request her again. Highly recommend!

A must experience while in Marrakech. - Well worth it. There is nothing quite like riding a camel in authentic garb through the desert at sunset. Even if it seems too “touristy”, do it.

Camels, desert, dinner - When we were in Morocco, we did not have 3 days to go on the Sahara desert camel experience so we chose Agafay. We had the BEST time getting geared up is Moroccan attire, riding camels, and ending the evening with a traditional meal outside by the fire pit. There was a fire show as well, A fantastic experience providing us with great photos

An amazing trip to a barren land - What an amazing trp! Absolutely gorgeous scenes. The camel ride was great. The food awesome. Only high praises all around. Definitely worth it if you are in Marrakesh.
Things to remember:
1) drive is long and half of it unpaved. Lots of jolts and jump. Make sure you are not too full!
2) there were a lot of flies around the tea/ sugar. Make sure you keep an eye on it.
3) the camel ride is loooong (~1hr). Again a lot of jerks. My butt was aching by the end of it. And yet it was awesome ride looking at the barren landscape with the setting sun in the background!
4) food was amazing!
5) the fire dance was short but beautiful in the night sky.
6) it’s a long drive back. It was 11pm before we got back. The kids were reallly tired at the end if it.

Fabulous Marrakech experience! - We had a wonderful guide for our camel ride, he took pictures and taught us interesting facts! The ride was through the dunes which were beautiful and at a relaxing pace. The dinner was very good! Lots of food and a great chance to try authentic Moroccan cuisine. It was nice sitting in the tent listening to the musicians and then ending the evening with a thrilling fire show.
We also had a courteous and safe driver that got us to and from our destination! We highly recommend this tour!

Pros and cons - I'll go with the cons:
1. The argan oil cooperative stop just feels like a guilt trip to get you to buy things.
2. You get to the desert so late, the sun has basically set so you're in the twilight. Ypou don't get the sun setting on the desert while on camel back experience
3. the dinner was weak. no dessert even.
Nonetheless, it was still an enjoyable activity. I think they good start earlier, beef up the arghan performance so that it doesn't feel like you are just being hustled, and voila. The camel ride was enjoyable, a really great experience.
