Marrakech – Imlil/ Azzaden Valley

Toubkal - Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil/ High Atlas Mountains (1740m)– Tizi Mzik (2684m)-Tamsoulte Waterfalls (2300m) Tizi Oussem Village (1850m).
After enjoying breakfast in Marrakech, embark on a drive towards the High Atlas Mountains via Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni, taking in the breathtaking views of the villages along the valley. Upon arrival in Imlil (65km from Marrakech), meet the guide and muleteer to begin the trek. Ascend the Tizi Mzik pass (2684m) for a stunning view over the Imlil Valley and Toubkal Summit. Continue to Tamsoulte to visit the highest waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains (100m high), then descend through a juniper forest in the Azzaden Valley to reach Tizi Oussem Village. Overnight stay at a guest house in the village. 5 hours of walking.

Azzaden Valley - Imlil

Toubkal - Day 2: Tizi Oussem (1850m) – Id Issa Village (1800m) – Tizi Oudid (2000m) – Mattat - Imlil
After breakfast, bask in the sunshine of this vibrant valley and its charming Berber villages. Depart Tizi Oussem and continue down to Id Issa Village, then ascend to the Tizi Oudid mountain pass (2000m). Pass through Matat Village after traversing a wild thurifer juniper forest, enjoy lunch under walnut groves, and relax by the river. In the afternoon, take a short trek up the valley to Imlil. Overnight stay in Imlil Guest House on a half-board basis.

Imlil - Tizi n’Tichka - Boumalen n’Dades

Tizi n’Tichka - Day 3: Imlil - Dades Valley
Depart from your accommodation in Imlil at 8:30 am and journey over the Atlas Mountains, crossing the stunning Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass. Pass through numerous Berber villages, and upon reaching the desert, observe riverside oases and barren hillsides dotted with kasbahs (fortified dwellings housing families and their livestock). Along the way, choose to either visit the Ouarzazate Film Studios or take a hike. Upon reaching Dades Gorge, opt for a hike or relax at your hotel. Overnight stay in Dades. (Total driving time: 7 hours)

Boumalen n’Dades - Tinghir - Merzouga

Merzouga - Day 4: Dades Valley - Todra Gorge - Merzouga
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from the Dades Valley to Todra Gorge, a massive fault dividing the High Atlas Mountains, rising 300 meters in a narrow valley with palm groves and Berber villages. Here, take a hike to explore the palmery, a lush oasis filled with large date palms. After lunch, continue further into the desert to the gateway town of Merzouga to gather supplies for your desert adventure. Proceed to a kasbah to pick up your camel. At sunset, embark on a 1.5-hour camel trek to a Berber camp where you will savor a traditional Moroccan dinner and sleep under the stars or in tents at a desert camp. (Total driving time: 6 hours)

Merzouga - Alnif - Ouarzazate

Alnif - Day 5: Merzouga - Alnif - Ouarzazate
Awake to a desert sunrise and return to the kasbah by camel. Freshen up and enjoy breakfast before departing the desert for a drive to Ait Benhaddou. This ancient fortified city, featuring numerous kasbahs, has been the backdrop for many Hollywood films (The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia). Explore the buildings with your guide. Overnight stay in a riad in Ouarzazate. (Total driving time: 5-6 hours)

Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Telouet - Marrakech

Tizi n’Tichka - Day 6: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech
Travel along the Ounilla Valley to the Telouet Kasbah, a crumbling kasbah that was once a significant stop for traders. Explore the Kasbah, and after lunch, return over the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to Marrakech. (Total driving time: 4 hours)

This tour is a wonderful combination of a 2-day trek exploring the Atlas valleys and a 4-day desert trip. The journey begins in the Moroccan mountain town of Imlil, where you’ll take day trips to discover the local Berber villages. The adventure continues over the Atlas Mountains, culminating in a stop at the breathtaking Dades Gorges. The journey continues to Merzouga where you’ll experience a camel ride and a night on the nomadic dunes. Your return journey takes you through the rocky desert of Tazarine and the exquisite Draa valley, ending with a stay at the Ait Benhaddou kasbahs. The final day involves a drive up the Ounilla valley over the Tizi n Tichka pass before returning to Marrakech.
