DAY 1: MARRAKECH – IMI OUGHLAD – TIZI N’TACHTE – TIZIANE

Marrakech - Embark on a 5-day trekking adventure in the Atlas Mountains, starting from Marrakech and exploring the charming Berber villages. The journey begins with a transfer from your hotel to Imi Oughlad, where you will meet the friendly Berber muleteer team.

Oughlad - The trek commences with a north-westerly hike, lasting about 2 hours, along switchback mule paths. As you ascend, you’ll pass through cornfields and forests of pine and juniper, reaching Tiz n’tachete (2000m). Here, take a moment to admire the views of the Imlikl and Ait Oussaden valleys before continuing for another half hour to Imi n’ifri for a delightful field picnic.

Assif B - Afterward, enjoy a leisurely 2.5-hour hike in a south-west direction along a dirt track to Assif n’Ait Oussaden and the picturesque red clay village of Tiziane (1750m). Spend the night in either a bivouac or gite accommodation.

DAY 2: TIZZIANE – TIZI N’TAGHRHOURTE – D’KNT

Assif B - Following breakfast, continue the trek up the Assif n’Ait Oussaden Valley, passing through walnut groves and ascending to Tizi n’taghrhourte (1995m).

High Atlas Mountains - Proceed through a rare, almost flat stretch to reach Assaka spring, where a serene field picnic awaits amidst the tranquil silence. This easy walk takes approximately 2.5 hours. In the afternoon, continue along the forest edges to the Berber village of D’knt (1870m) or Agouns n Assoul, where dinner and overnight accommodation in a bivouac or gite await.

DAY 3: D’KNT – TIZI N’TAGDALTE – TIZI OUSSEM

High Atlas Mountains - Begin a three-hour morning hike through walnut groves and fields of corn and barley, encountering local sheep and goat herders. Cross the Tizi n’tagdalte pass and descend through juniper trees to a scenic spring surrounded by trees, perfect for a refreshing picnic. Continue descending along winding tracks on the upper slopes for another three hours until reaching a small river at the start of the Assif n’Ait Oussaden Valley.

Tizi Oussem - Proceed to the village of Tizi Oussem (1850m) and then ascend to the summer village of Tamsoult, where you can camp or stay in a gite.

DAY 4: TIZI OUSSEM - TIZI M’ZZIK - IMLIL

DAY 5: IMLIL – TIZI N TAMATERT – IKKISS – AGERSIOUAL - MARRAKECH

Tamatert - Starting from Imlil (1,740m), head east along the Tamatert Valley, then turn north to cross the Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2,300m). Descend to the Berber village of Tinerhourhine, and continue along the Imenane Valley. This path leads northward through almond, walnut, and apple groves, and terraced Berber hamlets. Visit the villages of Ikiss and Amssakrou, where a delightful picnic lunch awaits with a stunning view of Jbel Oukaïmeden (3,268m) and the two passes - Tizi n’Ou Arg (2,258m) and Tizi n’Tiratene (2,268m).

Marrakech - On the return journey, head west, crossing the Tizi n’Aguerssiouâl pass, and follow the Assif n’Ait Mizane Valley back to Imlil. This trek offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the region’s natural beauty and immerse yourself in Berber culture.
