Very good - In front of koutoubia, Mustapha approached very calmly, introducing himself, and to his surprise, after sitting on a bench, he told us and explained many interesting things, then accompanied to a shop of an organization. Really nice person!!!

The BEST decision we made for our trip in Marrakech - FULL DETAILED REVIEW - When planning our 4 day trip to Marrakech we did a lot of research into the sights and their locations. We watched what felt like countless videos online when we came across another couple who booked a tour with Youssef to cover the main historic sights and the souks. Immediately seeing through their video the way Youssef engaged those on the tour, the passion he conveyed for the city and the history, we knew we had to book. I reached out via his Instagram account and was very quickly provided some options as to what tour we wanted to book and when we wanted to do it. We opted for the Historical Marrakech Walking Tour but also added the Jardin Majorelle into it as well as an additional extra, something Youssef was happy to accommodate. The process to plan and book the tour was seamless and very easy.
The day before the tour, Youssef reached out to double check we still wanted to go ahead and provided us details of the pickup location the following morning. The morning of the tour, we arrived at the pickup location as instructed and driver Rachid was there promptly, super friendly and welcoming to pick us up. As our first destination was Jardin Majorelle we had a few minutes drive to the new city from Jemaa el-Fnaa square where our Riad was located. Even in the short journey we learnt a lot from Rachid, talking us through the sights we were passing and those we would be visiting properly later in the morning.
As we pulled up to Jardin Majorelle, Youssef was stood awaiting our arrival and introduced himself and warmly welcomed us to a morning we would not forget. We'd booked the Jardin Majorelle entry online for 09:30 and were a few minutes early, this wasn't a problem though as Youssef spoke with the team working on the door and we were promptly walked inside to explore. We walked further into the garden before stopping just beyond the pagoda where Youssef provided us with a few minutes history and information about the garden, its founding stages and the historical journey to the tranquil oasis it has become today. Youssef then advised us to take some time to explore the garden and soak it all up, taking plenty of photos and videos along the way. He recommended we take 30-40 minutes based on the other stops on our itinerary but the pace was up to us and to meet him at the entrance when we were ready to move on. It has to be said, the garden is stunning. With over 135 different species of plant from 5 continents across the globe, it is very easy to forget you are in Marrakech as it is truly peaceful. There are plenty of examples of the iconic Majorelle blue, not least the main house within the garden which definitely draws the crowds! If you are considering including the garden in a trip, definitely get there in the first hour as when we left there was a huge queue and plenty of people queuing to take photo at the typical spots.
All finished up in the garden, Rachid swooped around to pick us up before heading further over and back into the medina for a short stop and walk through the Koutoubia gardens where we learnt about the mosque, its history and the faiths present in Marrakech today. As the Koutoubia mosque is only open to those of the Muslim faith, we took some time to walk around the external gardens, discussing with Youssef as we walked before once again linking up with Rachid onto our next stop. Third up on the list was a stop at Bab Agnaou, the gateway into the royal Kasbah. The largest and most ornate entrance in the medina it is well worth a moment to admire! From here we took a short walk to the Saadian tombs. It has to be said, Youssef's knowledge and timing is truly impeccable! Once in the Saadian tombs he talked us through the site and the history before making recommendations as to how we should explore, one comment he made was to go and see the Men's tomb as there was barely a queue to get into the doorway to see this and the gold decorated ceiling as this will likely get very busy soon. We headed over to the short queue and waited for a few minutes, after maybe 5 minutes, turning around there was a good 50-60 people waiting behind us to see the same thing!!! The tombs are fascinating, learning about how the 3 rooms were separate for men, women and children in the royal family but then how those buried outside had different hierarchical status that was evidenced in the tombs really to learn.
Our fourth stop of the morning was then at the Tinsmiths square with a short walk through the Jewish district of Mellah to the Bahia palace. By this time of the morning the day was starting to heat up and the prospect of getting into the cooler palace was great, it was evident however plenty of other people had thought the same as it was probably the busiest of the historical sights we visited. The palace itself as the name describes is "Beautiful", with many courtyards ornately decorated with mosaics it is far away from the external red stone exterior used to hide the internal beauty. It was sad to see the damage caused by the earthquake in 2023 but was encouraging to see the work and effort going in to restore this wonderful piece of history.
Our last stop but by no means least was at Jemaa el-Fnaa square and an exploration of the many Souks nestled away in the small and winding side streets. One thing that was fantastic was how Youssef prepared us for the souks. He checked with us what we had in our bags and recommended how to wear them on the front if there was any valuables to keep an eye on them. He also provided us with some key phrases to gently usher the sellers on if they tried to entice where it was not desired as well as giving us some invaluable tips for navigating the souks. Wow oh wow... the sights, the smells, the sounds the souks are a complete assault of the senses. We walked round many corners, under small archways and down some side passages that I don't think we'd ever have visited unguided! It was apparent that what Youssef told us earlier in the day that "Everyone in the old medina knows everyone" was true as he was greeted by more people than we could count, smiling and engaging with most that we passed. We walked through the many different sections of the souk, witnessing such incredible crafts in the blacksmiths and leather souks and the incredible smells in the spice market. A really cool little stop we weren't expecting was to one of the many communal ovens where locals and local restaurants alike have their loaves of bread cooked - a truly fascinating insight into a practise that has stood the test of time and something we absolutely would not have seen if it wasn't for Youssef.
---SUMMARY---
It has to be said, booking this tour with Youssef was THE BEST decision we made for our trip to Marrakech. Not only did it allow us to see the fascinating sights and wonders that Marrakech has to offer but it allowed us to learn deeply about the culture, the history and the way of life in Marrakech. Youssef went above and beyond providing us other recommendations for during our stay in the city (of which were just as fantastic) but he also gave us the confidence to tackle the smaller winding passages of the souks on our own, following back through some of the areas we covered with him unaided. It did not feel like a morning spent with a tour guide, it felt like we spent the morning being welcomed into a friends home. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to do a tour with Youssef, it'll guarantee you a trip that most people wouldn't experience.

Highly knowledgeable historical tour - Az was very knowledgeable, and tailored this tour to how we liked it. Since no one else booked the tour, it was just myself and my partner, so we had a private tour! He was funny, always made sure we were safe, especially on the roads/streets, and made sure we took our time to appreciate the beauty of the places we toured around.
We met him by Hotel Ali, and we had to pay ourselves for entry to the Bahia palace and the Saadian tombs.
Overall, highly recommend:)
