Jemaa el-Fnaa - From sunrise to the late hours of the night, Jemaa El Fnaa Square in Marrakech is bustling with foreign tourists enjoying the sights and shopping for souvenirs, as well as national tourists drawn by Moroccan folk tales and attractions. It is also frequented by many workers and tradespeople, from shopkeepers to restaurant owners and entertainers of all kinds.
Whether criticized or adored, the vibrant Jemaa El Fnaa Square has been the heart of the Medina of Marrakech for centuries. It served as a place of justice in ancient times, a passage for tourists, and a hub of entertainment recognized by UNESCO since 2001, hosting both ancient and modern cultural events. - Koutoubia Mosque - The Koutoubia Mosque is a landmark in Marrakech. The minaret was completed during the reign of Yacoub el Mansour (Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansour), who ruled from 1184 to 1199. At the time of its construction, the Koutoubia Mosque was an engineering marvel. Today, it stands as a historical masterpiece.
- Bahia Palace - The Bahia Palace, meaning “brilliance” in Arabic, is one of the best-preserved and most fascinating historical sites in Marrakech.
- Mellah - Mellah is the old Jewish quarter of the medina. Although few Jews remain in the area, a stroll through the markets and past the aged stores reveals a rich history. The area is known for its wide selection of colorful fabrics and ornate accessories for clothing.
- Slat Al Azama Synagogue - The “Salat El Azama” synagogue, meaning “The Synagogue of the Dissidents,” was built in 1492 during the immigration of Jews from Spain. Located in the heart of the Mellah of Marrakech, this synagogue is considered one of the most beautiful in Morocco and among the oldest in the world.
- Bab Agnaou - Bab Agnaou is the most renowned section of the fortifications of Marrakech, celebrated for its decoration.
- Kasbah Mosque - The Kasbah of Marrakech is the citadel or royal district.
- Medina of Marrakesh - The Medina of Marrakesh is an ancient Islamic capital dating back to the 11th century, enclosed by 16 km of ramparts and gates.
- Souk MARKET - The Souks are the heart of the Marrakech medina and have been the city’s trade center for a thousand years. Today, they are as much a tourist attraction as anything else but still retain their exotic, chaotic charm.
