- Ben Youssef Madrasa - The Ben Youssef Madrasa is a historic Islamic college situated in Marrakech, Morocco. Named after the nearby Ben Youssef Mosque, it was commissioned by the Saadian sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib in 1564–65 CE. Once the largest Islamic college in the Maghreb, it is celebrated as a pinnacle of Saadian and Moroccan architecture. The madrasa was a hub for learning, where students studied Maliki Islamic law, jurisprudence, and various interpretations of the Qur’an. Built by the Saadian dynasty, known for their sharif lineage (descendants of Muhammad), the madrasa followed a style from the earlier Marinid period. It accommodated over 800 students and operated until 1960, before being restored and reopened to the public as a historical site in 1982. It closed for restoration again in November 2018 and reopened in April 2021. It is renowned for its use of cedar wood, brick, and tile, creating a stunning visual display of Islamic art.

A must do on yor first visit to Marrakech - A great tour of the main attractions of central Marrakesh. We were able spend enough time at each venue and our guide gave us insightful explanations of the buildings history. It’s a great tour to do on the first day of your visit to get an excellent introduction to the city. Would highly recommend.

Would do it again - Our tour guide Mohamed showed up in the hotel early, which i appreciated.
The medina is quite large with many side streets and it was nice to have someone show us around who is knowledgeable and explain things .
Mohamed is a very pleasant guide and speaks excellent English.

meaningful, interesting, fast-paced - We had a great time! Our tour guide is an excellent person, he listened to all our requests and questions. He has a good sense of humor and is knowledgeable. We also learned a lot about the history of Marrakech. I highly recommend him if you want to spend an enjoyable afternoon here.

Unforgettable tour of Marrakech – an experience full of discoveries and history - We really enjoyed the tour. Moustafa was a very pleasant and nice guide. He showed us many places and places in Marrakech that we would never have found ourselves. The historical background was also very interesting and informative. We would recommend this tour at any time.

An interesting tour of Marrakesh. - Very interesting and informative, our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of insight into local culture, customs and the different languages spoken in the country as a whole. We found the tour of the Bahia Palace fascinating and well worth the visit.
The tour of the seuks and spices stalls was enjoyable.

Basic introduction: two historic sites and the souks - We were picked up from our riad and visited the Medersa Ben Youssef (entry 5 Euros), then walked through the souks to the Jardin Secret (entry 10 Euros) and then walked some more through the souks ending in the main square, the Jemma al-Fnaa. Our guide told us about the dynastic history of Morroco and each of the places we visited. This was all pretty interesting.
What we were less content about was firstly at each site the guide left us on our own to wander about - in the Jardin Secret for more than half an hour suggesting we get a coffee (which we didn't want). He then took us to several shops were we felt quite pressurised to buy and had to be clear that we were not interested. In the natural goods pharmacy we were immediately offered mint-tea and then given a very hard sell and we felt obliged to buy things we had not intended to get. Meanwhile our guide was having tea on the rooftop. Throughout, sadly, it felt as though we were being guided to spending opportunities.
So, yes, do this tour but make it clear (if this is the case) that you do not want to do any shopping at all and don't necessarily need a coffee stop!

While the guide’s... - While the guide’s knowledge was evident, a more structured itinerary with pre-planned alternatives would have made the experience smoother and more enjoyable, especially for first-time visitors to Marrakesh.
The tour concluded after 2.5h had passed, while the guide suggested that the tour will last 3 to 3.5h.
