In the past, Morocco was known in the East as Marrakech (still relevant in Iran); the name Morocco comes from the deformation of the Portuguese pronunciation of Marrakech: Marrocos. Marrakech has 928,850 inhabitants according to the 2014 census, spread over an area of 230 km2. The population density reaches 350 inhabitants per hectare in the Medina.

Must see Medina - Amazing to walk through old city and see shops and people working like 100 years ago. Walking through history on walkways existing over 100 years. See rugs being made by hand looms.

Beware of motorbikes! - A fun place to walk through. Unlike the Medina in Fez, the alleyways in Marrakesh are wide enough for motorbikes/motorcycles/ scooters and you will see a lot of them zipping around. The drivers are good at avoiding hitting people, but I did see some real close calls.
I did not feel unsafe, but the group I was traveling with had our guide plus we picked up another person who walked behind us to protect our rear. We went early which was good because it was cooler and less crowded, but not all stalls were open yet.

Stroll and get lost in the alleys - This is the ride you shouldn't miss. Stroll through alleyways, shop, meet locals and chat with them.
I had doubts about security, but in reality the city is safe even for tourists.

Must see..... - Must visit to the medina, but expect to elbow through its narrow alleys where there are the souks, but outside to the local homes no worries.

Mixed opinion - Marrackesh has many treasures hidden behind its doors with more magnificent riads than each other. Most of the inhabitants are rather friendly even if as in all the big cities it is necessary to remain vigilant. Restaurants have an extremely variable quality / price ratio, be well informed before settling. The excursions are well organized. The pollution generated by the passage of mobile phones through the narrow alleys of the center is a real problem already for the health of exhibitors of the souk but also for tourism. The central square is disappointing with finally 30 fruit vendors and that unsavory tourist traps on the central part, it is a shame. For my part, I was waiting for a highlight of the local craftsmanship that is really remarkable.

Disappointment - Architecturally the Medina is not worth much. (I have seen them better and better preserved) It is sloppy and dirty, and heritage is totally subjugated to trade. You are only worth your wallet, in every way, and you are not treated the same whether you are a man or a woman, or whether you travel as a couple, as a family, or with friends, etc. and that did not make us feel comfortable. Its people are not welcoming and the tourist is a wallet that if they leave well, and if not, then also.
Besides, it's a danger, xq the bikes pass you literally brushing all the time.

NEVER AGAIN - I went on holiday to Marrakech with my mother, thinking about spending a pleasant and exotic week. Unfortunately, our stay was anything but relaxing.
We were verbally assaulted several times by men in the street. I myself have been the victim of sexual assault, and we have been followed and harassed several times.
Marrakech? More like “Arnakesh”, as some say, but in our case it was much worse.
If you are a woman and traveling alone or with women, be extremely vigilant.
A tip: always look around, in front, behind, on the sides. If you need to consult your GPS, stand against a wall with your back protected, and never let your guard down.
And for those who love animals, avoid the Medina if you are sensitive: on each alley, you will meet hungry, scared, sometimes dying kittens. A real heartbreaker.
I don’t wish anyone that kind of experience. Stay careful, and protect yourself.

Filthy and smelly - I was looking forward to visiting Marskesh and the medina, but was very disappointed with what I saw and experienced. The medina is filthy and smelly. The locals sell meat covered in flies, the meat is not in fridges, it just lies there on display. There's a stench of rotten meat mixed, guts of fish or possibly other animals lying around. Lack of hygiene when handling food.

Horrible. - Experience totally ruined by the over-representation of 2 wheels in the streets of the Medina.
It's impossible to stroll or stop because you have to be on your guard all the time.
There is an urgent need to ban motorcycles/cyclos in this place
