We meet at ‘Bab Doukkala’ gate on the Rue Boutouil side. It is easy to access with a taxi from the city’s hotels. The gate has four arches. There are two smaller arches for pedestrians on either side, one of which is next to a small sidewalk kiosk. The guide will meet you here for your food tour.

Medina stories and food tour - The tour was actually waiting for us at the pickup location. From there he gave a short introduction to the tour and we were off. All stops on the tour were local establishments, very friendly and inviting. Our guide constantly asked if we needed water - greatly appreciated that!

Great Food Tour - We really enjoyed this food tour! We saw and experienced parts of the Souk we would not have found on our own. We tried food we would have never tried on our own! I was surprised by some of the things we tried and I ended up loving - like a spleen sandwich! The length was great and I felt like we had time to learn about the culture, digest, and continue to try new foods.

The Real Deal - Rasheed’s tour is the real deal, taking you to the places where locals eat. Not the hotels and restaurants who serve up the same predictable, tourist-geared menus, but to street stalls and small ‘undiscovered’ gems that most travellers never visit. All the food is of the highest, freshest quality, and the establishments are very clean. Rasheed will only take you to the places where he and his family eatp. Highly recommended.

Unique experience to eat where the locals eat - I liked the sound of a food tasting tour and thought it may give us an insight into Moroccan cuisine and we certainly weren't disappointed. We met up at Baba Doukala and our guide directed us to an adjacent cafe for mint tea or water. The tour was just over 4 1/2 hours long but at a leisurely pace and we were a small group as promised. I loved the fact that we entered the locals part of the medina, no tourist shops selling pouffes and tea pots, just food stalls and a few hole in the wall places. We tried a sort of pancake/crumpet from a stall, then we went to another place to make a sweet almond pastry rolled like a samosa, we then tried the finished product. We visited a bakery where locals can take their bread to be baked and the baker had cooked some sardines, (something I wouldn't normally eat), in an oven for us, we each had one with a squeeze of lemon in the handmade bread. We walked through the labyrinth of the souks, carefully following our guide to an amazing coffee shop where the water was heated, not boiled, by dessert sand heated over a fire, delicious coffee and a lovely owner. We had so many experiences, tagine in a locals only place, chicken skewers as well as livers, (I passed on those), beef jerky in a weird green dressing served from a market stall, briouattes again in the market. We visited the fire belonging to a hammam where locals drop off tagines to be cooked for hours as well as a place where whole goats are roasted under ground. We finished on a rooftop terrace overlooking Jemaa el- Fnaa (the main square) with mint tea and a pastry watching the sunset behind the Koutoubia Mosque. I really can't praise this tour enough, our guide who I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, was really informative. We got to see places we would never have found ourselves , the only thing i didn't try were the snails as I've had them in France and really didn't like them. We met some lovely fellow travellers from Norway, Ireland, Canada and the USA and no one was forced to try anything they didn't want to, in fact when booking they ask you to provide details of any dietary requirements. We were so full we didn't bother with dinner afterwards! Highly recommend.

Medina Stories Food Tour: a must if you visit Marrakech - We had the most amazing time at the Medina Stories Food Tour! We were able to visit great local spots and taste many culinary specialties that we would never have tried otherwise. Yummy! Our guide Rachid accompanied us with enthusiasm and humor and shared with our small group his passion for the street food of his city. What a great night it was! Definitely a highlight of our trip! Fabulous experience - Fabulous food tour of Marrakech. Got to try and go to places that we just wouldn’t have tried on our own. I love street food and this made my desire to eat more street food even stronger. You are missing out if you visit somewhere and don’t try what the locals eat. Rachid was a an excellent guide.
