High Atlas Mountains Guide - Departing from Marrakech, the journey heads east towards the High Atlas Mountains. The first stop is approximately a 1 hour and 30-minute drive away, where there will be a break to enjoy a panoramic view at the start of the Atlas Mountains. Take 20 minutes to perhaps enjoy a cup of Moroccan tea or coffee and explore the area to capture some memorable photos.
Tizi n Tichka - The second stop is at Tizi n’Tichka for about 20 minutes, offering a breathtaking view of the winding road and the impressive altitude of 2260 meters (7415 feet) above sea level.
Ait Ben Haddou - Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, renowned for films such as The Man Who Would Be King, Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, The Message, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator.
In this fortress, spend approximately two hours, with one hour dedicated to lunch and another hour for exploration.
Dades Gorges - After exploring Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, travel to Dades Gorge to discover the unique rock formations known as the Monkey Toes and the iconic winding roads in the canyon, before arriving at your hotel.
Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, camel trekking, luxury camp in Erg Chebbi.
Todgha Gorge - Journey back through the Dades Valley, then head towards the Todra Gorge, where stops can be made along the Todra River. Finally, reach Todra Canyon, famous for rock climbing. Enjoy a 40-minute break to stretch your legs before heading to the Sahara Desert.
Erg Chebbi - In the evening, arrive at the camel parking area in Erg Chebbi, where a 2-hour camel trek through the sand dunes begins. The camel guide will lead the way to a high point to watch the sunset, before continuing to the luxury camp.
After dinner, enjoy the camp’s ambiance with a campfire and Berber drum music in a peaceful setting near the fire. Later, the lights will be turned off to allow for a clear view of the stars.
Return to Marrakech via Ouarzazate
Alnif - After witnessing a stunning sunrise and enjoying breakfast, the journey back to Marrakech begins via a different route, passing through the desert’s black mountains, rich with Acacia trees. Stop in Alnif for a cup of coffee or tea, then continue the drive to Ouarzazate.
Ouarzazate - Explore the outskirts of Ouarzazate and uncover one of Morocco’s most remarkable historical legacies of wealth and power. Just beyond this tranquil Moroccan city lies Taourirt Kasbah, a citadel set against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.
Marrakech - From Ouarzazate to Marrakech, retrace the route taken on the first day, crossing the High Atlas Mountains. Arrive in Marrakech and be dropped off at the nearest parking area to your hotel/riad, marking the end of the 3-day Marrakech desert trip.
