A great trip with a good travel company - We booked this tour with Yassine at the Marrakech Travel Services office who was extremely helpful and gave us a full explanation of the tour. Concerned by the long travel time, our careful and safe driver, Mohamed was patient and accommodating with stops. The distances were so worth it, ending with the sunset and sunrise camel ride and sleeping under the stars. We were also lucky to be with a group of lovely young people from various countries. An excellent experience with guide Mr. Mohammed Ben Haddou - Thank you our driver, guide and friend, Mr. Mohamed Ben Haddou for everything during this excellent trip. This is a review on behavior of a group of 14 people, who are from China, the UK, Span, Norway, Germany, France and Poland. -Driving: Decent and very considerate during the whole trip. For instance, Mohammed Ben Haddou would slow down when extreme weather occurred while we climbing a mountain. Air conditioner is dynamically adjusted because he was looking after everyone. He also provided enough breaks during the journeys. -information: a clear presentation including timeline, food and things needed to know would be given at the beginning and the end of every trip. -Guid: physical geography and humanities geography were introduced by Mohammed Ben Haddou with every minute once we inquired or were curious. -Respectful and polite: Mohammed Ben Haddou would respect everyone in the group and looked after us in a low profile but very helpful. For example, one couple from UK had to find a a pharmacy in emergency, by considering others alongside, Mohammed was able to help this couple find the medicine without any time delay for others. -Team player: on the way back, his colleague had an issue with the van, he stopped immediately and helped with no hesitation. Also due to high peak travel season, the journey is very easy to be delayed by guided trips. However, Mr. Ben Haddou had no complaints but driving extra hours everyday even after his working hours, only because he didn’t want to reduce our experience quality. -In conclusion, we all enjoyed our 3-days stay with Mr. Ben Haddou. We can see all local people at the stops and roads were waving hands to him and his colleagues gave fly kisses to him. He is very kind and nice person and a reliable driver and guide. Beautiful experience - Very good three day experience, very complete and well organized stay. I recommend especially for beautiful landscapes at sunrise and sunset

Rich experience - These 3 days, led by Hicham, were really very pleasant both by his good mood and by the visits and activities: Ait Ben Haddou with Abdel as guide (excellent!), the Todhra Gorge and the Merzouga dunes. The Berber music in front of the fire in the camp was great!

WHAT TO DO ABSOLUTELY - It's hard to summarise how good it was. We are in March, on the Atlas it snows and it is quite cold (so remember to take warm winter clothes). A taxi takes us to the bus (16 people of different nationalities, English, Spanish, Brazilian and French). The driver, Hicham, at the top to explain in all languages. I am curious and he answered all my questions in addition to the explanations he was making on the road. Driving level, excellent. A lot of humor and a plus for the desert , he brought surfboards....:) Excursions: Berber village, Ait Ben Haddou. Guide Abu. He also speaks all languages. Pleasant dynamic and excellent explanations about the history of the village. Visit also to a traditional house. Todhra Gorge: Friendly guide. Visit a village, a carpet cooperative with explanations, to end up in the beautiful gorge. Merzouga, the desert: just beautiful. Comedy ride, (I loved it) to see golden dunes as far as the eye can see. Waiting for the sunset our driver brought surfboards. Excellent moment full of laughter. Beautiful sunset then departure to the camp. Nice evening by the fire with musicians. In March the nights are cold but well Covered it passes, even to sleep. However, take only a small bag with your pajamas because you only change clothes and wash the next morning at the hotel where you have breakfast. Rising early to admire dawn on the dunes with the camels. It's not like the day before. Then return and 9 hours drive.... On the road we can observe beautiful landscapes (photo stops): Snowy mountains , Berber villages , oasis, river, etc... Attention on the site there is written that you can pay hotels, restaurants and even tips with the credit card. Not at all, so consider taking cash. In short superb excursion to do so beautiful it was.

Great trip, great driver, great desert - We really enjoyed this trip with our fantastic driver Hamid, who we felt safe with during the long drives and he always made sure we were comfortable. Seeing the Sahara is a special experience you can’t recreate anywhere else.

Things you need to know before booking - Firstly, I would like to say I had a wonderful time on this trip. However, that being said, I think it is important for people looking to book the trip of the costs that are not mentioned. Firstly, the ‘optional lunch’ didn’t seem quite as optional when you are there. The whole tour group is taken to a restaurant on each day in the middle of nowhere and seated without being asked if you wish to dine or not. It isn’t massively expensive but I would say you are paying tourist prices and would have the same food considerably cheaper in Marrakesh. The thing that upset both my friend and I the most was the trip to the Berber village a lot of famous films were filmed in. Our tour guide told us it was 30 Dirham entry and we can pay him afterwards. Although this isn’t a lot of money, it was not mentioned at all when booking the trip or referenced on the website. In addition to this, the same guide took everyone in our tour group to a shop and stated we all must have a ‘desert passport’. He was referring to a headscarf. He and the man working in the shop had a well rehearsed display of why you shouldn’t buy the ‘cheaper’ scarf. He poured water on the blue scarf and what looked like blue dye came out on his hand. He said because of this we should opt to buy the more expensive scarf. This scarf costs around 15 euros. Our whole tour group bought one and we didn’t buy into it initially. Especially as I had already bought one in Marrakesh for the equivalent of 3 euros…. When he tried to sell to us we said ‘do we need one?’ To which he responded ‘you don’t need one but it is necessary’. Anyway, he whittled the price down to around 8 euros for us and said not to tell anyone else we paid less. We felt obligated to buy them as we were the only ones that hadn’t. Later that day we gave the ‘water trick’ a go on my considerably cheaper scarf purchased in Marrakesh. Unsurprisingly, there was no colour run and this scarf was perfectly fine. Not that there is any water in the desert anyway so in hindsight I can’t believe so many people fell for this! The same tour guide came up to everyone individually after lunch and asked for the 30 dirham entry for the tour around the village (we still aren’t convinced he didn’t personally pocket this money) and then said ‘you can pay me whatever you wish’. We are all for tipping someone that does a good job but the fact he said that to us we felt pressured into giving him money there and then. Usually people go up to the tour guide off their own back to tip. This felt very pressurising. The following day, we had a different tour guide for the walk through the field and carpet shop/Berber home. This tour guide began by asking if we bought the scarfs the day before to which everyone confirmed. This particular tour guide literally told us all we had been conned - confirming what me and my friend had already worked out. He explained we should pay no more than 20 dirham (€1.90) for this… so essentially everyone in my tour group paid €13 more for something they didn’t even need! We then went to the family home of a family who make carpets for a living. They showed us all of their carpets and how they make them, served us tea and it was very pleasant. However, it became apparent very quickly that this was another marketing ploy to get people to buy. One couple in our group showed interest and then the people became very forceful trying to get them to buy a carpet quickly. They were force-sold a carpet and left unhappy and our tour guide made them take it back as he said he didn’t want them to be unhappy with their experience and buy something they didn’t want. He distinctly said he will never take anyone back there but I am confident the following day the next tour will be back to the same place as they must have a commission based arrangement with these people. The above aside, the desert part of the tour was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed the camel rides and camping. It was a great experience. It is just a shame the other aspects beforehand let the overall experience down. I never ever post reviews but I haven’t seen any others stating what happened to us and I want people considering the tour to know what to expect! All of that being said, I don’t regret going and the desert experience alone made the trip worth it.

Bad expérience - driver smoke cannabis - on December 26, 2023, I experienced the 3 days Marrakech to Merzouga. The landscape was superb but the excursion company is not serious. Our driver Jamal was very quiet. The most serious thing is that we were disturbed during all journeys by the smell of cannabis in the vehicle. At each stop, the driver went to smoke his cannabis and when we got back in the vehicle, the smell was unbearable. Is driving with cannabis in your blood allowed in Morocco? This situation made us uncomfortable with the other passengers: we felt in danger with a driver under the influence of cannabis. I do not recommend this agency and this driver.

This tour is overpriced in Viator - This tour is overpriced in Viator. I paid 3 times more than the rest of the people we shared this experience with, who booked with other agecies/websites. I contacted Viator to request a refund of the difference as per they price matching guarantee, but they gave me sone shocking reasons why I will not be granted a refund for the overprice paid, so very dissapointed wth Viator. I will never book another experience in this website I am afraid.
