Atlas Mountains - Day 1: Marrakech, Ait Ben Haddou, and Dades Valley
Guests are picked up from their hotel at 7:00 AM. The journey begins with a drive to the Atlas Mountains, which takes approximately 4 hours and offers breathtaking scenic views. There is one stop along the way for photographs. This route is renowned as one of the most beautiful in Morocco.
After 4 hours, there is a stop in the Berber village of Ait Ben Haddou, where visitors have 2 hours to explore an ancient castle with a local guide. The journey then continues to the hotel, with a 3-hour drive and one short break.
Ait Ben Haddou - Ait Ben Haddou is a historic fortified village (ksar) located in the Ouarzazate province of Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage site is celebrated for its traditional earthen architecture, featuring high walls and towers made of clay and straw, typical of the pre-Saharan habitat. The ksar is positioned along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, historically serving as a significant cultural and trading hub.
Ait Ben Haddou has gained international recognition as a popular filming location for movies and TV series, including “Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and “Game of Thrones.” Its picturesque setting and well-preserved structures provide a glimpse into Morocco’s rich heritage and traditional lifestyle. Visitors can explore its narrow streets, ancient kasbahs (fortresses), and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it a must-visit destination in Morocco.
Boumalne Dades - Boumalne Dades, often simply called Boumalne, is a town in the Dades Valley in southeastern Morocco. It is located in the High Atlas mountains, known for its breathtaking landscapes, including deep gorges, rugged terrain, and picturesque kasbahs. The Dades Gorge, a main attraction near Boumalne Dades, is a dramatic natural feature carved by the Dades River, offering spectacular views and popular hiking routes.
Boumalne Dades serves as a starting point for exploring the Dades Valley, often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” due to the numerous historic fortress-like structures scattered throughout the region. Visitors can experience traditional Berber culture, local markets, and enjoy activities such as trekking, rock climbing, and photography.

Merzouga Desert - In Merzouga, guests stop at a hotel and embark on an adventurous camel ride. The camels, guided by experts, take visitors to the desert camp, a journey that takes about 45 minutes. At the camp, guests enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner with music and dancing. After dinner and the program concludes, guests sleep in comfortable tents. During the desert stay, there are ample opportunities for photography in the sand dunes, watching the beautiful sunset, and stargazing at night.
