Traditional Hammam session in Marrakech - Choice of the option “scrub and massage man”. Followed protocol (black soap, bucket rinse, scrub (hair glove), massage (necessarily a little painful sometimes but necessary and measured), drying and tea. It was a perfect wellness session. Very welcoming staff. Rates announced at the entrance. I recommend this hammam located in the medina.

An amazing and positive experience - Our visit to this hammam was one of the highlights of our 5 day trip to Marrakesh. I have never felt so clean, the hour long argan oil message was fab and the whole vibe was so energising. It felt so positive being in a women only space being treated by wonderful women and surrounded by women of all ages, shapes and sizes. I totally understand why women visit hammams regularly and much preferred it to the spas I have experienced at home in the UK. It was amazing!

Add Massage, Be Good To Yourself - I have been to many hammans in various countries and Hamman Mouassine is a faithful and customer focused establishment providing an excellent service at a fair cost. I opted to upgrade and also have an hour’s massage, which was of great benefit following endurance exercise. The masseur was exemplary in his technique.
Take care to locate the correct hamman as there are two in the locality. Take a screenshot of the entrance and show this to local tradesmen who will then direct you

Try it! - We were very doubtful whether to try or not, but in the end we jumped! Special experience, you are literally washed by another person (men and women enter separately in two different environments): to sit practically on the ground (on thin perforated rubber, similar to a mat) in a first room, first throw buckets of hot water on you, then rub you with black soap, then again buckets of water and then scrub with another grayish concoction with a rough glove that at the end leave you free. They take you to another dry room, with a warm floor, always sitting on the ground, relaxing a few minutes, waiting to be taken back to the first room to be rinsed again with buckets of water. They ask if they can wet your hair and scrub your face, too. I wanted to keep the piece on top of the costume, but they let me pull it out. I recommend bringing your costume. Slippers and towel give it to them, but very questionable conditions. They also give a basket to put your clothes (you undress in a room with sofas, in front of everyone, in front of the "reception desk") and all the things to store in a special locker for which they leave the key. At the end they offer small shot of teh. Duration about 30 min, depends on how many people there are, maybe you have to wait. The main entrance is common male/female, then the woman is escorted to another entrance (through the corridor where wood is piled for the floor heating boiler), but eventually you find yourself in the main.
I recommend the experience, but if you are not too picky or particularly obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness!

Authentic experience - Very good Price quality ratio. everything is provided.

A flat... The ladies who massage are very professional in their gestures., however they talk to each other during the massage and this is disturbing... Maybe we have to tell them right away so that they stop... I didn't dare...
However, I would be happy to return.

Classic traditional hammam. - As expected, this is a classic hammam. No frills.
You don’t need to bring anything with. Soap glove, disposable underwear all in the low price.
I paid a further 120Dh for a 30 min massage, which was extra treat.
Only issue I would have was that the massage I would really want after a hammam is far more strenuous, and ideally performed on the heated slab, as I had years ago in Istanbul. (They really give to a good going over, big stretches and twists that leave you feeling like a rag doll…in a good way!)
This was just on a standard table.
So on balance, this was excellent, but not for everyone.

Traditional hamman using wood to heat water. - Extremely traditional per locals as it’s been in operations for hundreds of years. If you aren’t used to traditional squatting toilets, use bathroom in advance.
Women only. Uses wood versus gas to heat water, which is more traditional compared to touristy hamman.
As an American, I get the feeling they don’t scrub as long as locals. Workers there don’t speak English except for the cashier. Overall not the best client friendly as the women who work in the bath area and massage aren’t warm and welcoming. They are there to do their job and move onto the next person.
Bring a bottom swimsuit or a spare underwear. Be prepared to be completely naked for massage from head to toes. They massage every inch of your both front and back.

The Hammam process was... - The Hammam process was great but my experience here was not. Listed as a 1 hr experience I was there for 2 and almost missed my dinner reservation. Made it through the first few steps but then got forgotten and sat around for much longer than I think I was meant too. Lots of waiting around and wished I had gone to a public space and just brought my own stuff to do it.

Shocking - Experience undoubtedly "strong". The photos don't give you an idea of what awaits you once inside. Zero hygiene, rudeness, zero information. You're washed on the floor on a mat where everyone is leaning. At my entrance, two women fought, yanking me about who was supposed to wash me. Luckily the scrub glove is sealed and personal. The same cannot be said of the rinsing sponge. After scrubbing and clay wrapping I was "parked" in another room for 15 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo. Luckily I had booked a massage, I must say well done and the lady very kind. Experience not to be redone.
