traditional bathhouse in the heart of the Medina - If you are looking for a spa or a high-priced tourist oasis with incense sticks and relaxation music, you are in the wrong place. If you are looking for an honest, warm and devoted traditional hammam experience, this is the place for you. The place has been a public bathing establishment for 500 years and you can see that. Hakim and the team are not men of big words, but know exactly what they are doing and will be happy to explain to you on request the procedures and even the functioning of the house incl. fire oven etc.

Discovery Public Hammam - If you are looking for a couple experience this is not the right place: women and men are separated. However, if you are looking for a real Moroccan life experience, and you are open-minded then you are in the right place (very well to share with friends or girlfriends)! Very typical place with presence of local inhabitants. It is better to come with your swimsuit, however the towel is provided. Very good experience to live!

The best bathroom of your life - Recommended to live a 100% local experience. It is not a spa, it is to go with an open mind to live a completely local experience as you will not live anywhere else. We made the hammam only, without massages, and we came out very comfortable and relaxed.

Hammam experience - I visited this place with my mother and sister-in-law. The girl who attended to us explained that the message was not included but that we could add it at that moment. Then they gave us two bracelets. One for the massage and one for the hammam. They offered us a basket for our clothes and a locker to store them in. Then they took us to the room where three very friendly women began to clean our skin, etc. At all times, I felt that they did so with respect and also asked our permission to clean our faces and hair. I can say that the sponges are brand new and they give you a new one after each use. The towels were also dry. The girls were very relaxing during the massage. I was in the same room as my mother, and although the girls talked to each other, they did so as quietly as possible so as not to disturb us. My sister-in-law had to wait a while for her massage because the girl did not open her door. Afterwards, she told me that she noticed the girl was a little tired. But even so, she gave her a relaxing massage. After finishing, we got changed and left. They were on their break. I think they offered you tea at the end. They didn't offer it to us. But to be honest, I'm not 100% sure if they offer it or if we have to ask for it. I really recommend this place. The price was the cheapest we found. Around £19 per person (without massage) and another £12 with massage. I enjoyed it very much.

The oldest hammam in Marrakech certainly but not the most concerned with its customers... - No privacy to change (no changing room) For the Hammam, it’s public, all in the same room waiting in line to get the scrub done and then after waiting we don’t know how long in another room that is not a real hammam (not so hot). We're like numbers. The massage was without privacy (open position in the main corridor) no massage technique, massage therapist impatient and not respectful of my privacy and my requests. Hygiene to neglect.

Not so good - The idea of going to a medieval hamman is great. But the interior of the womens section is poor. The scrubbing treatment itself was okay, but I was summuned out quickly. There was no nice space to relax afterwards.

DANGEROUS AND DISASTROUS - We were going for a nice experience with friends. Having already received feedback from a friend on the hammam, we already knew what kind of experience we would have. To begin with: rather poorly indicated for the passage of women (but not serious because redirected kindly by the young man of the reception). Arriving on the women's side, the two girls from the reception desk lead us to the benches on the other side and no longer take care of us (even taking care of the next clients before). So meet at 5pm but pick up reception only at 5:15pm (when the reception was empty of customers). Lack of information regarding payment (cash or card? => cash.. but not euro coins 😂😂 so prepare the top-up ..). So caught late barely guided and no real time taken for the scheduled care.. and hamam temperature not high enough.. – As regards hygiene: everything must be reviewed. Okay the traditional side, but the establishment welcomes people who are not used to and who are not from the area... so the shower flower that washes you face body and private parts is used for all the same guests. Floor mats don't talk about it. The towels are reused every time different customers pass without being washed of course (remember that you are naked when you use them). Protective towels for massage .. same fight. Suffice to say that nothing is washed or disinfected... or even the hands of the masseuse who passes from customers to customers in the chain. LET'S TALK ABOUT MASSAGE. At the limit the hamam ( MDR). But really the massage is HORRIBLE. Definitely does not last the scheduled time and limit.. GOOD. - GOOD. The old woman who moves with absolute pain and is clearly not trained and kind welcomes us in pairs in the room. She slams our body with argan oil (strange texture for argan oil ..) and leans on us to move (thanks my poor back who asked nothing). She was crushing my face with her breasts to massage my back. She massaged me while I was naked .. shamelessly massaging all parts of my body with the same vigor as the women who pass us the scrub glove ..Really a sketch .. I wanted to laugh in despair. To summarize: if you go for the charm of yesteryear without the hygiene of 2026 then .. take the hammam. The information you have... it's up to you to make your choice. But certainly do not book the massage. I don't understand the positive feedback from people. And I find it shameful that TripAdvisor recommends it. Really sickening. We hadn't read the comments before... if we'd known, we wouldn't have come!

To flee.... - To flee... I do not understand why this hammam is recommended in all tourist guides.... Cold welcome at the entrance ....This is absolutely not a relaxing moment. They throw a bucket in your face after the scrub.... Too many people, you are taken care of “in the chain”. I even got cold inside because it is very little heated. After 40 minutes, you are asked to leave.... Disenchanted parenthesis....

Hamman of Horrors!!! - Falsely advertised, dishonest staff, dirty and overpriced. Worse than abysmal! Absolute pure filth, run down, dirty and a health hazard. The receptionist was dishonest, told us 170 p.p or 300 for two. Then took our money, and short changed us, becoming rude and dismissive. Changing area literally slap bang in middle of reception. Receptionist kept insisting she hold my £280 sunglasses for me, wouldn't let me put them in locker (after she had robbed us of our change), so that was fun! I had to firmly insist that she return them so that I could lock them away. Without warning, a door opened and a woman who didnt introduce herself, grabbed my arm and run me across a slippery marbled floor, pointed at a dirty mat on a floor and told me to lie down. There were no pleasantries, the ladies were so noisy as they gave off incessantly about something that was making them angry. The chattered over the top of us, there was no care of effort in the body scrub. No pleasantries, she barely touched me during the scrub, made me roll onto my front and ignored me for 10 mins. We were forcefully told to go into the next room where they'd knocked the heating off, to lie on cold floors in the corner on top of an ant nest, we looked up at black mould and paint peeling off the ceiling, you could actually taste how unsanitary it was. Before long that misery was cut short (thankfully) and we were led to sit on a floor to have water thrown at us from a small bucket. The saga lasted less than 20 mins, we were chucked back out to reception, confused as to what had just happened. There wasnt a steam room We suspect that decent reviews are false as the place should have a biohazard warning. Avoid at all costs. Such a shame as the staff are disrespecting a tradition which forms part of their cultural heritage - it leaves visitors with a very poor impression.
