Siwa Oasis Experience 🌟 - It was a fantastic, out-of-this-world experience! My sons and I joined a tour from Cairo to Siwa, which we booked through the Viator app. The trip lasted for two nights and three days. Our excellent driver picked us up from the hotel at 4 a.m. for an eight-hour drive through the Sahara Desert to Siwa. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we rested before embarking on an early evening tour. We enjoyed a desert drive in a 4x4 vehicle with an experienced driver, navigating up and down the sand dunes. We reached Suhra Aldabaeih, where we savoured late afternoon tea and snacks by a spring water pool before setting off for sandboarding in the desert. On the second day, we explored various historical sites, including the Shali Fortress, Dakrour Mountain, Oracle Temple, an ancient Egyptian burial ground known as the Mountain of the Dead, the Siwa Cultural Museum, and a Siwa library. We went to Sabkha Salt Lake for a swim but were too tired, so we opted out of going to Cleopatra Spring Pool. Our driver took us to Siwa Oasis in the evening, where we enjoyed drinks while watching the sunset. Our local tour guides, Gabriel and Abu Bakr were great storytellers with incredible knowledge of Siwa's history and culture. We gained valuable insights into Siwa's background. The local people are genuine, and Siwans have a strong sense of family unit. Thank you to Abu Bakr, Gabriel, our experienced Siwa driver, and the driver who took us to Siwa and back to Cairo. We appreciate their dedication to making our trip meaningful, eye-opening, and enjoyable. It is fascinating to learn how Siwans maximise their resources by growing date palm trees. They eat the fruit, use the leaves for shelter and fencing as well as weaving baskets, and use the trunks for building houses and supporting roofs.

Initial miscommunication but overall a great experience. - I will give 5 stars but only because our driver Hossam was very kind, same with our tour guide Gabriel and the rest of the team. Otherwise it wasn't perfect. Our pick up was supposed to be 5 in the morning, but we couldn't find the driver outside, and we ended up waiting for almost 1 hour while all dressed up. We didn't know if it was cancelled or if someone was going to pick us up. I expected to get a message from the tour operator or from the driver, saying that, "hey, this will be the car color, etc, we will be outside waiting for you, but none of these, we have to wonder ourselves and figure it out. Later on the tour operator messaged that the driver was actually outside waiting for almost 1 hour, just the same as us. So It's a miscommunication. We also missed some stops because our driver had to rush to catch the Safari since we were already late. How to prevent this kind of inconvenience in the future? -To the tour company or operator, you should give the driver the customer's number so that he could contact them since he has the car, or give the customer the driver's number so that it's easier to find each other. It's not our driver's fault. (He waited just like us) The company should have given our number to the driver, or vice versa. Otherwise it was a nice experience, it's slower sometimes, lots of confusion with people involved but everything went well in the end, thank you to our driver Hossam and to our tour guide Gabriel who made the experience great, without them it wouldn't be a 5 star review.

I had an unforgettable experience - Huseyin made my trip to Siwa absolutely unforgettable. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area’s history, including the Salt Lake, Cleopatra’s Spring, the Oracle Temple where Alexander the Great was named King in 331 BC, and Dakrour Mountain. As a solo traveler, I really appreciated how comfortable and safe he made me feel—we connected instantly, and it felt like traveling with a friend. He’s also an amazing photographer and captured every special moment for me. Hands down, the best tour guide I’ve ever had!

Absolutely must do trip... - Absolutely must do trip in Egypt! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Especially the guides in Siwa. The driver spoke almost no English which led to a little bit of confusion during the journey and then also when getting into the rooms but no real issues. Both hotels were gorgeous and the activities were so much fun.

Must do visit to the Oasis with Touritos - Gamal and the Touritos team were great to visit Siwa with. I felt safe, very immersed in the culture over the 3 days, was able to try lots of different food, and saw beautiful varied sights. Siwa is stunning and a relaxed place to visit - would recommend! Thank you from Canada

A very fun adventure in Siwa - One of the best trips we've ever made! We visited amazing places, tried very tasty food, and we were very well cared for! Everywhere there was always water, and we were offered snacks to eat. We had a lot of fun in the dunes in the desert, sandboarding, visiting ancient temples, swimming in the saltwater pools, dining in the light of candles in the desert, strolling in the center of the city, watching the sunset on the island in the lake of the oasis, all this always in the company of our guide Mojito, which was great! Very dear, friendly, with a lot of knowledge about the places and the history of Egypt, easily explained to us on any doubt we had. I found it cute that he gave us Egyptian coins and bracelets with our names engraved! In addition, our driver Samir Hamish also made the ride very fun, always driving carefully, demonstrating his skills when passing with the van in more difficult places, without losing the joy and humor! Even though I can't speak Arabic, and he doesn't speak Portuguese, we talked a lot, and laughed a lot trying to learn new words along the way! He found the word Raposa very funny, and that I was drinking coffee without sugar! Hahahha! An unforgettable trip for us!

Lack of informations - I gave 3 🌟 only because of the people that I met there, because they tried to do a memorable experience. And they did it.But the way the trip was organized had any sense.I booked a 3 days trip, and I have the possibility to go from Cairo in the morning or in the evening.I chose the one in the evening, because was easier for me. Theoretically we supposed to have some places to stop during the way to Siwa, like Marsa Matruh, and it was written that we will go with a car, even if is a share trip.I found myself getting in the bus station,by a driver who came to take me to the hotel. We didn't go to Marsa Matruh because it was night when we arrived there. And the second day in the evening we went back. They let me in a hotel,so had nothing to do with the desert camp.I stayed just one night and 2 days...even if I paid for 2 nights and 3 days. When I arrived to Cairo, they let me in the bus station without anyone who could come to bring me to the hotel, like it was written on the site.As I said, the guides were the only one who did their job and the experience was unforgettable. But the agency...no comment. They could mention those details and maybe I would have accepted to book it like this, but had nothing to do with what is writing there. So chose the trip who starts in the morning, maybe it would be organized in a better way. Personally,I would never book anything with them again

Disappointed - We had heard great things about this tour and the description looked really promising. However we did not get value for money. Day 1 involved a 9hour drive directly from Cairo to Swia. Our driver stopped at a small shop prior to leaving and brought us all water and snacks. Our driver was falling asleep at the wheel, we later found out he had about 2 hours sleep. Once he had a few near misses nearly nodding off at the wheel he had the windows down and was playing loud techno music and was constantly on his phone whilst driving, scrolling the internet and making really loud phone calls. On arrival to Siwa at 15:00 we had lunch in a small restaurant and then were dropped at our desert camp hotel, which was very nice. We were given little to no information by our driver, except we were asked to meet him at 16:30. He took us to watch the sunset. We then picked up pizza for dinner. There seemed to be no communication of dietary requirements despite stipulating upon booking. We took ourselves to a local shop to buy drinks. We were dropped at our hotel where we ate without our driver as he was not staying with us. We had no contact details if we had needed anything. The next day we met our driver at 9:30am for a day of activities. We had to probe for information and the tour did not follow the itinerary provided when booking: We had a nice tour of the local town and historical sites with a local guide. We were then taken to the salt lakes, which as others have commented is an industrial site. Be warned there are no toilets or changing facilities. We then moved on to Cleopatras pool which felt like a pond in the middle of a village with litter floating in it. We had a nice lunch here where our driver fell asleep and so we were late leaving, which meant we had less time to shower at our next hotel before heading out to the desert activities. The desert was amazing and dinner at a local restaurant lovely too. Our guide was very chatty and kind. The next day we left swia at 9am and arrived back at our hotel in Cairo at 20:00. Our driver spent most of the journey again on his phone and driving dangerously (stopping in the far lane of the motor way on multiple occasions to wait for another vehicle in our group). At one point he was driving with his foot up on the dashboard! I appreciate driving in Egypt is very different to the UK but the driver displayed no care or professionalism. I didn’t feel safe with him driving. I think we had a bad experience due to our driver. It felt as though we were an inconvenience to him and he had no concern for our wellbeing. I had to ask on multiple occasions if we could stop somewhere to buy water on the first and second nights and when I asked if was clear this annoyed him. There were two others who joined my friend and I who spoke Spanish and very little English. They had booked for a Spanish tour but were with us on an English spoken tour. When they asked the driver about this he just shrugged and said maybe the local tour guide speaks English, this was not the case. The accommodation was nice and staff we met there friendly. But compared to other excursions and experiences we have had in Egypt this tour was not good value for money. Unfortunately with Viator and Get Your Guide used as only a booking facilitator, this tour seems to be largely dictated by the personality and professionalism of the driver. It is very much an Egyptian experience and far removed from other ‘western’ run tours.
