- Haleakala National Park - Journey to the peak of Maui’s stunning dormant volcano at Haleakala National Park, a must-see attraction reaching 10,023 feet above sea level. As one of only six authorized companies offering Haleakala tours, exclusive access is provided to witness awe-inspiring sunrises that have captivated visitors since the 1800s. Explore the unique volcanic crater landscape and discover the rare endemic silversword plants found nowhere else on Earth. This remarkable Haleakala National Park adventure combines breathtaking volcanic views, distinctive high-altitude ecosystems, and the unforgettable experience of standing atop Maui’s sacred volcano, making it an essential highlight that showcases the raw natural power and beauty of the Hawaiian Islands.
- Haleakala Crater - The magnificent Haleakala Crater is a breathtaking geological marvel stretching 11.25 miles across, 3.2 miles wide, and plunging nearly 2,600 feet deep, creating one of the world’s most spectacular volcanic landscapes. The Pa Ka’oao Trail, also known as White Hill Trail, is a short 0.4-mile hike starting at the visitor center, leading to an elevated overlook with stunning views of the crater floor. This brief hike is well worth the effort, offering visitors an exceptional vantage point to truly appreciate the massive scale and otherworldly beauty of the crater. The views from this conical mound are significantly better than those from the visitor center, making it an ideal way for tour guests to experience the raw volcanic power and stark beauty that defines Haleakala’s “house of the sun” landscape.
- Haleakala Observatories - Known as “Science City,” the Haleakalā High Altitude Observatory was established in 1958 due to the optimal viewing conditions the shield volcano offers, with minimal light pollution and high-altitude air, making it one of the most valuable planetariums globally. The Haleakalā Observatory, also known as the Haleakalā High Altitude Observatory Site, is Hawaii’s first astronomical research observatory, spanning 18 acres at 10,000 feet above sea level, operated by the University of Hawaii. While visitors can view the observatory complex from the Haleakala Summit and visitor center, the facility itself is dedicated to groundbreaking astronomical research that continues to advance our understanding of the universe from this pristine high-altitude location.
- Ho’okipa Beach Park - Ho’okipa Beach Park, meaning “hospitality” in Hawaiian, is a spectacular stop on the Road to Hana adventure, renowned worldwide as the birthplace of modern windsurfing, where professional athletes perform incredible aerial maneuvers in consistent trade winds. Located just east of historic Paia town, this stunning crescent beach offers dramatic coastal views and is famous as one of Maui’s most reliable locations to observe Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) basking peacefully on the warm golden sand. The combination of world-class windsurfing action, magnificent turtle viewing opportunities, and breathtaking natural beauty makes Ho’okipa Beach Park an essential highlight of any Road to Hana tour, perfectly embodying the natural wonder and adventure spirit that makes this legendary Road to Hana journey so unforgettable.
- Road To Hana - Along the Road to Hana journey, travelers will witness spectacular waterfall walls, creating breathtaking natural displays that showcase Maui’s incredible rainfall and tropical beauty. These stunning roadside waterfall features become especially magnificent after heavy rains, when multiple streams transform rock walls into flowing curtains of water that demonstrate the raw power and beauty of Maui’s rainforest environment. These impressive waterfall walls along the Road to Hana offer incredible photo opportunities and remind visitors why this legendary coastal drive is considered one of the world’s most scenic waterfall adventures.
- Eucalyptus Rainbow Trees - One of the most breathtaking Maui vacation highlights along the Road to Hana adventure is the stunning Rainbow Eucalyptus forest, where nature creates its own masterpiece through trees with extraordinary multicolored bark that naturally peels to reveal vibrant layers of green, orange, red, purple, and yellow. Located near mile marker 7, this spectacular “Painted Forest” is a must-see photo opportunity that can be experienced right from the vehicle window while cruising along the Hana Highway, offering incredible roadside views of these Southeast Asian trees that have thrived in Maui’s tropical rainforest climate. This magical Road to Hana highlight perfectly captures the natural artistry and wonder that makes this legendary coastal drive one of the world’s most scenic adventures.
- Bamboo Forest - Along the Road to Hana journey near mile marker 6.7, travelers will witness the spectacular Na’ili’ili-Haele Bamboo forest, where towering bamboo stalks create a dramatic natural cathedral effect showcasing Maui’s incredible tropical vegetation. This stunning bamboo forest displays incredibly dense bamboo growth reaching skyward to form an otherworldly green tunnel, demonstrating how perfectly these plants have adapted to Maui’s tropical rainforest climate. As travelers pass this magnificent bamboo forest along the Road to Hana, they will experience one of nature’s most impressive displays of how constant moisture and rich volcanic soil create perfect conditions for these remarkable bamboo groves to flourish.
- Ke‘anae Point - The dramatic Keanae Peninsula represents a true Maui vacation highlight and must-experience location, where a spectacular half-mile finger of ancient lava extends into the Pacific Ocean, creating one of the most scenic and culturally significant stops along the Road to Hana journey. This authentic Hawaiian village showcases traditional taro fields still cultivated by local families, offering visitors a rare glimpse into genuine Hawaiian rural island life that has remained unchanged for generations. As travelers explore the peninsula, they will discover the historic Lanakila Ihiihi O Iehova O na Kaua Congregational Church built in 1860, surrounded by dramatic black lava rock formations and flourishing taro fields that demonstrate the deep connection between Hawaiian culture and the land, making this Road to Hana stop an essential cultural and scenic experience that captures the true spirit of old Hawaii. Visitors will also have the chance to purchase Aunty Sandy’s famous banana bread!
- Aunty Sandy’s Banana Bread - Stop to enjoy delicious banana bread, coffee, and/or food.
- Pua’a Ka’a State Park - As the Road to Hana adventure unfolds, travelers will pass two stunning waterfalls that showcase Maui’s natural beauty. First, witness the picturesque Waikane Falls (also known as Three Bears Falls) visible right from the Hana Highway between mile markers 19 and 20. Further along the journey, they will encounter the impressive Pua’a Ka’a Falls located at mile marker 22.5 within the lush Pua’a Ka’a State Wayside Park. This ultra-green park features a pair of falls cascading into pools, creating a tropical paradise that epitomizes the Road to Hana experience. Both waterfall locations offer guests perfect glimpses of Maui’s cascading waters and dense rainforest landscape, making them some of the most photographed spots along this iconic scenic drive. Stop scrolling and book NOW - We did this tour with Chase and Daniel. Don't think twice or look for other options. Book it and you will have a remarkable, memorable and OUTSTANDING trip. From the skilled driving over the entire trip, to the narration, to the time allotted for each stop, this tour was picture perfect. I wasted hours looking for others. We arrived on port on the NCL cruise. The logistics were as smooth as the experience. Chase and Daniel's care made sure we all got the absolute best out of the day including guiding us thru the slippery waterfall rocks. The sunset at the north shore was the perfect way to end an unforgettable day

Enjoyed our day trip to Haleakala and Road to Hana 1/2way! - It was nice not having to drive the Road to Hana ourselves. Chase and Daniel picked us up on time, provided snacks and water, were very friendly, informative and helpful…like when our son threw up during the trip. Speaking of which, use the Hana tonic preventatively…it really works for motion sickness that comes with all the twists and turns of this drive.

Beautiful landscapes - We had an amazing experience on the Halfway to Hana and National Park visit! Every stop along the way was incredibly beautiful — lush landscapes, scenic waterfalls, and peaceful trails made it all unforgettable.
The weather this time of year gave us the perfect mix of sunshine and light rain, which not only kept everything feeling fresh and tropical but also created the perfect conditions for taking stunning photos. The light rain brought out the vibrant colors in the scenery, and the sun would peek through at just the right moments.
Throughout the trip, the weather stayed warm and pleasant, making the entire experience feel like the perfect tropical escape. Highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to explore the natural beauty of Maui in a relaxed and scenic way!

Loved Road to Hana Tour - This is a fantastic tour. You ride in a very comfortable 11 passenger van. Our tour guide Shelly was amazing. She is lifelong resident of Maui and was very informative with cultural history and entertaining facts about the places along the road. Very safe journey with Shelly driving. We were provided with lots of snacks and drinks. Even included stop for coffee and banana bread. We hiked/swam at beach park. Lunch was salad and fresh made pizza. Delicious. Very beautiful drive through rain forest. Roads are very curvy so may need anti nausea meds if prone to motion sickness. Highly recommend this tour. Company is good with communication and arrive on time

Halfway to Hana & Haleakala Tour - Took our extended family of 11 (7 adults, 4 kids ages 3-6) on this full day trip exploring Maui. Our guide was super flexible, doing Haleakala first due to weather, and letting us spend some extra time in the national park to do 2 short hikes. We did the road halfway to Hana and were super grateful our driver knew the road so well! He pointed out all the best views, took us to a great spot for lunch, and ended with a waterfall we could jump off of into a deep pool. A ton of snacks and drinks were provided, which was great with the number of kids we had. We learned a ton about the island - educational in a fun way!
If you have ever experienced any motion sickness, I'd suggest Dramamine before the road to Hana - it is VERY winding. Also, if you have any food allergies, pack a lunch or extra snacks, as there are limited options at the lunch spot.

Just road to Hana, no Haleakala National Park - The driver is perfect!! The reason I am not satisfied is that the tour does not match the description online. The title of the tour is "Road to Hana Halfway and Haleakala National Park", however, we only went to Road to Hana and didn't go to Haleakala National Park at all. For those who are expecting Haleakala National Park, I strongly don't recommend this tour.
