Awesome experience - I’ve biked Haleakala 2 times now and this one was far superior to the previous guys. This one is a much smaller company, and the owner is totally invested! He even provided us with homemade baked goods. We will for sure be back!

Amazing! - Incredible experience from start to finish. The views are amazing, the bikes are top notch (comfy seats!), and the personal touch to include homemade baked goods makes this tour a must do. Out of all the things we did in Maui (scuba, snorkel, whale watch) this was our favorite. Thank you to the guys for being so accommodating and kind to my 16 year old, risk adverse son. Even the rain at the end couldn’t ruin this incredible tour!

It Doesn’t Get Any Better - As my grandboys say…Two Big Thumbs Up! Everything on the trip exceeded expectations. I could detail the tour and talk about all the great views but that is pretty much the same with all the bike tour companies that go up the volcano. Since we have toured with other companies, I want to tell you what I think Maui Bombers does better. If you want general information about the route, check their website. Communication- instead of only getting canned responses from the internet reservation program you get messages from Matt that respond back to his cell phone. Small Group- only six in our group. We jumped in a Honda Pilot and headed up the volcano with Matt and Eric. The small group size created a more intimate experience. We talked with each other, shared experiences and had laughs. Matt and Eric joined our conversations as well. We all got to know each other a little bit. You don’t get that on a bus with 15 other people. Hospitality- we were taken care of by the guys who run the company not employees who may or may not have the best interest of the company in mind. Matt fresh baked treats for us and worked to make everyone feel like family. Seriously, Matt could also be a baking star with his Coconut Muffins and Lilikoi Bars. Guess Eric doesn’t bake, but he does drive well. Equipment- we rode newer Trek mountain bikes with street tires. Comfortable helmets, windbreakers and gloves also provided if you like. Upgrade from the single speed heavy cruiser bikes most tour companies use. The Treks are nimble and easy to ride. Tour Route- we had a longer tour route than other companies, on the way down we passed the other groups loading up while we were on the way to the beach. Personality- Matt is a loud energetic let’s have fun kinda of guy, great for a guide. Played inspirational music from his bike to keep the energy up. Did I mention Matt is loud and animated? Eric is a little more reserved but is there to take care of business loading/unloading bikes, driving the safety car and just making sure everything is great. Great team, very professional. Safety- I don’t mean to imply that you will be unsafe on any of the other tours but we felt safe and taken care of on our tour with Maui Bombers. Good bike check and safety briefing and hand signals. I appreciate that Matt leads the way, warning if necessary and making turns on the correct roads. Eric followed behind in the safety car keeping traffic at bay and letting Matt know when we needed to find a pull off spot to let traffic pass. We saw one tour where the guide followed the pack, yikes…guide following? Our tour also left a little later allowing most of the local and tourist traffic to clear the volcano and villages so we had the road pretty much to ourselves.

Best bike adventure on Maui - Best bike trip ever! What differentiates Maui Bombers is the helmets, bikes, small group and awesome guides. Make sure you hit the Cycle Supreme! Thanks to Matt and Eric for an amazing experience.

Great experience and best use of vacation time - We did the 0800 ride. Matt was great! And his snarkiness comes out in some of the responses to the reviews on here. He really does want every customer to have a great time... we did! . And his homemade treats and his buh-buh-bow self promoter button put that extra "11" on a scale of 1-10. The bikes are in great working order and we wore normal bike helmets instead of motorcycle helmets like others we saw on the road. Seriously? Motorcycle helmets? How about training wheels? Be sure to grab a malasada at Komoda's.

Do you want to be WOW’d? - My husband and I recently finished a trip with Matt and his crew and it was nothing short of outstanding. If you want a personable, safe, and exciting trip down the mountain, this one is for you. Matt goes above and beyond in his hospitality and adds some personal touches that just make you think WOW! Matt and his team have customer service down pat while making sure you have a fun, exhilarating experience.

Bombers! - My third time coming down Haleakala. This was fun. My son and I truly “bombed” our way down. The guides were awesome and quality bikes.

Expectations fulfilled - This activity was great. It was all that is advertised. I highly recommend Maui Bombers, small group, easy going for the avid rider to the not so sure.

Epic ride down Haleakala! - Truly an over the top experience!!! I came here in 1987 for my honeymoon and watched the sunrise through the clouds surrounding Haleakala. That was a once in a lifetime experience - on the way down, my wife and I saw all these cyclists riding down the mountain road and it was something I had regretted not being a part of… Fast forward to present day 2025 and my son and I made the epic ride with Maui Bombers! Matt and Eric made the ride experience top notch! We met them at 8:00am and climbed into the Maui Bomber transport cruiser for a comfy ride up the mountain to 6,500ft. Once at the top it was just the 4 of us, Matt guiding us down the mountain while Eric drove behind us as a traffic brake allowing us to use the whole lane down the smooth mountain road, average speed of 25mph with a top speed of 35mph on a couple of occasions. The ride took us through Makawao where we took a small break and explored the town before continuing on to the beach. Which was a leisurely ride through some beautiful tree lined bike paths to Lower Paia. The bikes were Trek Mountain bikes which were multi-geared with hydraulic disk brakes and very comfortable seats making the ride experience extremely fun and enjoyable the whole way. On the way up the mountain, Matt told us what to expect and explained thoroughly how everything would proceed once we got to the top, teasing us with homemade coconut muffins and passion fruit bars as we progressed down the mountain. The vehicle was stocked with small cooler of water and Gatorade as well, if we wanted it. The treats did not disappoint!!! Except I wish he had provided more… Thank you Matt and Eric for helping to fulfill a bucket list item. I highly recommend Maui Bombers for your Haleakala ride experience!!!

Maui Bombers is the total Bomb!🥳 - There was only 4 offered stars or I would have given 5 stars. Matt was an awesome guide & provider. He was early for the trip. Super nice greeting & overview of our excursion. Bikes were top notch & well serviced. The ride was a great experience. We had a blast. Matt also provided home made muffins. They were excellent. Also provided water & other drinks. I really can say enough about our experience. Also, he provides bike helmets in stead of full face motorcycle helmets. That really made it enjoyable. Matt also provides wind breakers & gloves if needed. Looking forward to our next visit. I will highly recommend him to everyone. Thank. 😎
