- Ho’okipa Beach Park - Watch the surfers catching massive waves at one of the most famous and sought-after surf breaks in the world. And then for the wildlife-lovers of your group, this is a terrific spot to see Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles! They love to congregate in a corner of the beach right underneath a platform ideal for viewing and snapping a few pictures.
- Wailua Valley State Wayside Park - One of the most awe-inspiring views on the Road to Hana, look out over the tranquil village of Wailua and the vast ocean beyond. Facing Haleakela, you are treated to a panorama of the Wailua Gap, a densely forested valley stretching as far as the eye can see towards the crater. See how many waterfalls you can count cascading down the valley walls!
- Pua’a Ka’a State Park - Looking to cross “swim in a waterfall in Hawaii” off your bucket list? Now’s your chance! With not one, but TWO gorgeous waterfalls that have natural pools ideal for swimming, you can take a dip in cool, refreshing water flowing straight from the slopes of Haleakela.
- Ke‘anae Point - A stunning black volcanic rock shoreline that juts out into the powerful waves of the Pacific is the backdrop to a glimpse of the Maui’s past. Here in Keʻanae, the traditional method of loʻi kalo (wetland taro) agriculture is still practiced. Enjoy a loaf of the famous Aunty Sandy’s banana bread (as featured on National Geographic’s Uncharted with Gordon Ramsey!) while you watch and listen to the thunderous waves breaking on shore.
- Koki Beach - Witness the jaw-dropping beauty of ‘Ālau Island, a seabird sanctuary dramatically battered by waves. Enjoy the view while strolling along the pockets of red sand beach, and look out at Leho‘ula sea arch back towards town. Uncle Russell’s Huli Huli Chicken, as featured on National Geographic’s Uncharted with Gordon Ramsey, makes an excellent plate lunch to be savored at a picnic table looking out on this gorgeous landscape.
- Hamoa Beach - An absolutely beautiful beach that is perfect for body-surfing, Hamoa Beach is nestled within a ring of cliffs overflowing with greenery. Soft, salt n’ pepper sand runs all the way into the crystal-clear water, so the whole family can enjoy the waves without worrying about rocks!
- Hana - By now, your crew has probably worked up quite the appetite! Luckily, there are several dining options in Hana and outside of town. If you are want some fantastic pizza topped with veggies grown right on-site, Hana Farms is a great stop for both lunch and picking out some fresh produce. There is also a food truck park in town with several options, Braddah Hutt’s BBQ Grill just outside of town, or the Hana Ranch Restaurant if you feel like soaking in an ocean view with your meal. After lunch, we’ll load up and take your group to Hana Bay, where you can enjoy a great view of Hana Town, and hear about the fascinating history of this area.
- Ohe’o Gulch - ʻOheʻo Gulch, generally referred to as “Seven Sacred Pools”, is a magical valley set within the boundaries of Haleakala National Park. There are two trails here, a short one that leads through endemic coastal forest to the coast, and a longer one called the Pīpīwai Trail. Hiking the Pīpīwai Trail will allow you to see a spectacular banyan tree, a series of impressive waterfalls and plunge pools, Makahiku Falls (200 ft high!), a bamboo forest, and Waimoku Falls (400 ft high!). Pictures and descriptions don’t do justice to the breathtaking feeling of viewing this impressive waterfall from underneath the soaring cliffs that make up the end of the gulch.
- Ulupalakua - By now, the day is winding down. There is no better way to catch the sunset than by looking out over the South Maui coastline from Ulupalakua, an area of quiet ranch land and striking views. Here, Hawaiian cowboys, or paniolos, herded cattle and established a unique cowboy culture that predated the American West.
- Huialoha Church - Visually stunning, the Mokulau Islets are a number of lava rocks offshore from the beautiful Huialoha Church. The church itself was painstakingly restored by members of the community in the 1970’s.
