The team were great, very... - The team were great, very friendly and importantly prioritized our safety throughout the snorkeling experience. They also provided an excellent breakfast and lunch, kept us hydrated and had sun protection on offer. I was also impressed that they constantly kept a lookout and pointed out a pod of dolphins that were close by.

Amazing experience! Thoroughly recommend! - Was the absolute highlight of our trip to Hawaii! The crew were awesome, Shasta’s knowledge of the ocean life was amazing and given our differing levels of experience and ability made us all feel comfortable with the experience. We got to snorkel with turtles and sharks and varied fish, all of which were pointed out to us and identified by Shasta. Included food and beverages were perfect for the trip and we loved that it was a small group. If you’re thinking of doing a snorkelling trip, pick this one!

Best tour ever !!!! - Derek and Kasey were great on the trip. We found the best snorkeling spots with turtles, octopus, eagle rays, puffer fish, and lots of clear water to see the marine life. We even followed a pod of dolphins frolicking in the water. The breakfast snack and lunch were fabulous. Highly recommend this trip for all wanting to explore marine life.

Magic Merman snorkeling - Started with a meet and greet on the beach. Met with Austin and his partner, forgive me bad on names. Small world , Austin and ?????? Partner. They both went to same college as I did in Northern California. Austin introduced us to our boat captain , Makia and our snorkel guide, Shasta. First stop was about an hour away..Saw a lot of colorful coral but fish were scarce for some reason. We stayed there for about 1.5 hours. Headed to place where turtles were abundant. On the way there closer to Kanapali beach we happen upon a pod of dolphins, mothers and their babies. My camera went down I-PHone went down sorry no photos. My wife and I had great time will do again if we ever go back. Fantastic people Thanks Magic Merman

Awesome morning snorkeling on west Maui - So happy we chose Magic Merman for the morning snorkeling trip. Several children were on board, including my 8 and 11 year old. Derek and Shasta were great with the kids, and made sure everyone was safe on board and in the water. We saw hundreds of spinner dolphins surfing and spinning out of the water. We saw a variety of marine life, including Hawaiian green sea turtles and a reef shark. Lunch (wrap, chips & drink) was delicious. A very memorable trip indeed for our entire family!

Incredible! - Absolutely phenomenal experience. Don’t let the small boat fool you - it was much more comfortable and had shade for all seats compared to the other tour operators with huge boats and tons of people standing around. The crew was amazing and super helpful in finding lots of creatures - 4 octopus on this trip! We went to two spots: one with a ton of turtles and octopus, another with beautifully colored coral and a lot of fish species. On our way back, we made a detour to follow a pod of dolphins which was a nice surprise! Highly recommend and would go again in a heartbeat.

Derek & Austin provided detailed (&accurate) logistics, and greeted us on the beach before riding out to their specially designed tour boat. (Coast Guard Grade & accommodated a smaller number of guests for a more customized experience… perfect to tailor instructions and/or 1x1 assistance for ‘nervous’ first time snorkelers without shaming those of us challenged with adjusting gear no matter how many times we’ve snorkeled!). Shasta was a phenomenal mermaid in the water and Naturalist on board teaching about the behaviors. Exceptional hospitality included cold beverages, fruit, banana bread, and wraps for lunch (& peppermint towels to sanitize afterwards!). Derek piloted the boat expertly—navigating nimbly to identify and speed alongside spinner dolphins (leaving other bigger boats behind!) and yet very politely yielded to the position of other tour boats while cruising to/from and docking at both sites. We saw several turtles, an abundance of colorful varieties of fish, eels, and at least 4 octopus/octopi due to Shasta’s keen eye and pointing patiently underwater until everyone could see. Derek & Shasta educated us in the water and on the boat with brief yet interesting explanations of different types of fish we saw and dolphin factoids. We’ve been on other large boat snorkel and dolphin tours…and the bigger the boat, the more people jockeying for limited seating, gear, and refreshments….and kicking feet in your face while trying to enjoy the experience. Definitely put ‘the Magic Merman’ at the top of your list—support a local small business with an exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable, and kind crew, differentiated boat, hospitality, and refreshingly personalized experience. We’ll be back for snorkeling ..,and whale watching season with friends & family!
