From December to April, the waters surrounding Maui are teeming with the awe-inspiring presence of humpback whales, and the best way to experience this spectacle is from the deck of our 65-foot catamaran.
This two-hour adventure is dedicated solely to whale watching. There is no snorkeling or sailing involved, just uninterrupted time to witness breaches, tail slaps, and close encounters, all guided by knowledgeable marine naturalists who know where the magic unfolds. You’ll even have the chance to listen to live whale songs through our onboard hydrophones, creating an unforgettable experience.
Savor light local snacks and enjoy an open bar featuring popular selections from Maui Brewing Co., all while taking in panoramic ocean views and a refreshing sea breeze.

- In order to access the vessel, you will need to walk down a pier and step across a gap onto the deck. Crew will be able to assist with the gap.
- Restrooms are accessible via steps down into the cabin and ladder into the restrooms.

Amazing Whale Watching Tour - Don't Pass This Up!!! - Our experience on the Ali'i Nui luxury catamaran whale watch was truly unforgettable. From the moment we stepped aboard, everything felt top-notch and thoughtfully curated.
The light breakfast and drinks were fresh and delicious—just right for a morning on the water. The captain and his three crew members were outstanding: incredibly attentive, friendly, and eager to answer all of our questions. Their knowledge added so much to the experience.
We were lucky enough to see and hear a whale, which was absolutely thrilling. The crew gave us great insight into how whales travel throughout the Hawaiian Islands during mating season, which made it even more special.
The weather was sunny and clear, though it was quite windy—something we were prepared for. We were really glad we chose a morning tour, since the seas were calmer and it made spotting the whale spouts much easier.
Because we went toward the end of whale season, our group was small and the tour felt like a private charter. That intimate setting made the entire outing even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a luxurious, informative, and personal whale-watching experience, the Ali'i Nui tour is absolutely the way to go. We’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Whale of a Time! - We had a great time on the catamaran ride out to see whales! The crew was funny, knowledgeable, and hospitable. We had success seeing several whales and learning about them as we gazed. The food was delicious, too. I would recommend this trip to others!

An unforgettable experience with top-tier service! - We booked the Ali‘i Nui Luxury Catamaran Whale Watch for my wife, son, and daughter-in-law—and it was hands down one of the highlights of our time in Maui. From the moment we stepped aboard, we were met with exceptional courtesy, professionalism, and warm hospitality. The crew was attentive, informative, and clearly passionate about what they do.
The catamaran itself was pristine and luxurious, offering the perfect setting for whale watching. And yes—we saw whales! Multiple sightings, all breathtaking. The crew made sure everyone had a great view and shared knowledgeable commentary that made the experience even more enriching.
Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable outing for our family. Highly recommended!

The most attentive, friendly engaged crew ever. 5 stars! - Most attentive, friendly & professional crew. We took our 86 year grandparents who are young at heart and their were guests of all ages and everyone was thrilled too pieces and spoiled. The captain was so friendly and warm and there were crew that were entertaining the kids, crew that were spoiling the elders and everyone else on the boat and the boat itself was clean and modern. Food and drinks were yummy too. Highly recommend.

Above and beyond, great service! - Our family had rented a private charter for a 3 hour snorkel and whale watching excursion. The company informed us the day before that the boat we had rented was unavailable due to mechanical issues and we had to reschedule. Then they informed us that the replacement charter was now also unavailable at the morning time requested due to scheduled fire testing, so we had to move to an afternoon departure time. We were disappointed and a bit apprehensive that the trip would be ultimately be cancelled (and it was the last day of our trip, we were flying out that evening). However, they came through and we had the BEST charter trip of our lives. It was amazing! The weather was a bit overcast and choppy waters, but the whales were out and the turtles joined us during the snorkel. The captain and crew were absolutely great.
We highly recommend this excursion and the company - they come through on delivering an enjoyable experience, go above and beyond for their customers, and ultimately provide a great service.

We keep coming back - We’ve tried other whale watches but stayed with Alui Nui for the last 8 years because the staff is very helpful and attentive to the customers and we have never failed to get whale sightings.
Also- everyone can sit outside for better views.

A perfect outing - A perfect outing! The boat was large, clean, and in excellent condition. They included food and drink, the staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The boat was not packed with people so it didn’t feel too crowded, which was a big concern of mine. We were the first boat to spot and watch some packs of whales and were able to see many breaches! Would strongly recommend!

Great experience, would go again! - We just did the whale watching cruise yesterday. It was a great experience, saw lots of whales and got some good photographs. The catamaran was a beautiful boat and the crew very friendly. The drinks were cold and food unending and good. The crew was always ready to help and even cleaned my sunglasses for me.
