Maun - Arrive at Maun International Airport, where a safari guide will greet you with a sign reading “Marvelous Mobile Safari.” The guide will escort you to your accommodation for a one-night stay, including bed and breakfast. Lunch and dinner will be at your own expense. The safari officially starts in Maun. Enjoy a swim or opt for a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta (at your own cost).

Nxai Pan National Park

Nxai Pan National Park - Start your day early with breakfast before departing for Nxai Pan National Park. Packed lunches and snacks will be provided. Upon arrival, our camp staff will set up camp, allowing you time to relax and refresh after the journey. After a siesta, join your Professional Guide for a short game drive around the pan until sunset, including a visit to Baines Baobabs. Named after the renowned 20th-century painter and explorer who depicted this unique group of baobabs during his 1862 journey through southern Africa, these baobabs stand on the edge of a large salt pan. Although dry for most of the year, the pan transforms into a vast water sheet dotted with water lilies during the rainy season from December to March. During these wet months, water birds flock to the lagoon, creating a stunning spectacle. Return to camp in time for a shower before enjoying dinner under the African sky.

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park - Begin the morning with a refreshing, warm bucket shower, followed by breakfast. We then head to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where the entrance marks the start of our game drive. The drive leads us to our campsite, which will be ready and welcoming. After settling into your tents and enjoying a delicious lunch, you have the option of a siesta. Before your afternoon activity, enjoy high tea and then embark on your game safari within the park to explore the incredible wildlife. The Makgadikgadi offers opportunities to observe semi-desert species such as the elusive brown hyena, bat-eared fox, or meerkats. Spend time with meerkats, following their activities. Return to camp for a much-needed shower, followed by dinner. Experience the breathtaking starry sky through stargazing, with no other light sources for kilometers around, the stars of Makgadikgadi shine brilliantly.

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park - After breakfast, we depart for Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, covering an area of 3,900 square kilometers. This region of vast open plains, salt pans, and ancient riverbeds is home to large herds of springbok, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, and the largest of all antelopes, the eland. Made famous by Mark and Delia Owen in the book “Cry of the Kalahari,” we will camp here for one night. During our stay, we will track the black-maned lion of the Kalahari. African wild dogs, cheetahs, and brown hyenas can also be found pursuing their prey in this untamed wilderness. The black-maned lion of the Kalahari has a dominant color, with high adaptability, allowing it to thrive in harsh conditions.

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park - Enjoy a game drive after breakfast as you head to Maun, where you will be transferred to the airport to continue with other travel plans. Exchange farewells at the airport.

Arrive a day prior to the safari’s commencement, enjoy an overnight stay in a hotel or lodge in Maun, and embark on the safari refreshed the following morning. The safari itinerary includes Makgadikgadi National Park and the Okavango Delta. Makgadikgadi National Park is located southeast of the Okavango Delta, encircled by the Kalahari Desert. The Makgadikgadi Pan, a salt pan in the midst of the dry savanna of northeastern Botswana, ranks among the world’s largest salt flats. During the intense dry season, characterized by strong hot winds and only salt water, wildlife is scarce. However, after the rainy season, the pan transforms into a vital habitat for migrating animals, such as wildebeest, one of Africa’s largest zebra populations, flamingos, and the large predators that hunt them.
