- El Faro Mazatlán - Constructed in 1879, this lighthouse is situated at the southernmost point of the city and stands as one of Mazatlán’s most iconic landmarks. Visitors will have the opportunity to drive by and, if desired, climb to the top, which is 500 feet above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the entire city and the Sierra Madre mountains in the distance. Along the ascent, there are numerous chances to capture stunning photographs. A glass floor bridge extends from the hillside, providing a unique perspective. It is advisable to bring bottled water and a small towel to stay refreshed in the warm weather. The tour continues along the Bay Area towards the Olas Altas neighborhood, with stops at scenic lookout points for photo opportunities. The driver will share basic historical insights and answer any questions upon request.
- Playa Olas Altas - As the journey proceeds along Paseo del Centenario, visitors will soon encounter the historic beachfront hotels known as Olas Altas, a favorite among both tourists and locals. This area is rich in history and offers a delightful experience with its coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Guests can choose to take a short walking tour or continue riding through the historic center. Capture a memorable photo of Carpa Olivera, a saltwater pool in the ocean built in 1914, as the waves replenish it. Continue along Angel Flores Street, known for its vibrant houses, making it one of the most notable and photographed streets in Olas Altas.
- Punta de Clavadistas - Mazatlán boasts its own diving tradition at a small ocean-side park on the Malecón. Divers leap from a 50-foot high platform into water that is only 5 or 6 feet deep. The tradition of cliff diving in Mazatlán dates back to the mid-1900s when the platform was constructed on the Malecón.
- Plaza Machado - This town square was established in 1837 by a wealthy Filipino businessman named Juan Nepomuceno Machado to showcase the area’s prosperity at the time. Plaza Machado is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, gardens, restaurants, bars, and shops that maintain the classic architecture. While strolling through the plaza, admire the renowned Angela Peralta Theatre located adjacent to the square. The theatre was restored in 1993 after enduring a dramatic history of hurricanes, floods, and near demolition.
- Catedral Mazatlán Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción - The Mazatlán Cathedral is a stunning Baroque and Gothic-style church located in the downtown area. Construction began in 1856 and was completed in 1899. The church’s interior is uniquely adorned with chandeliers, marble, wood, and gold. An intriguing aspect of its history is that the Jewish community contributed to the church’s completion, resulting in the inclusion of the Star of David in 28 stained-glass windows. Across the street from the Cathedral is the Plaza República town square, surrounded by trees, palm trees, and beautiful gardens.
- Mercado Pino Suárez - This market has been operational since 1899. Both locals and tourists visit daily for grocery shopping and souvenirs. Visitors will have 30 minutes of free time to explore or shop for souvenirs. Stop by Panama Bakery for fresh bakery items, cakes, pies, and treats.
- Malecón de Mazatlán - The Malecón is akin to a pier or boardwalk along the city’s coastline, stretching approximately 20 km in total length. It begins at the southern end of Olas Altas beach and extends to Valentino’s nightclub in the Golden Zone. It is considered the second-longest beachfront walkway in the world and serves as the main venue for many of Mazatlán’s events, such as Carnival. There are numerous attractions, monuments, and photo opportunities along the Malecón.
- Golden Zone - The Golden Zone (Zona Dorada) is Mazatlán’s primary tourist area, renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches, vibrant atmosphere, and diverse array of restaurants, shops, and beach activities. Spanning the coastline, this lively area offers the perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment for visitors. During the visit, guests can enjoy free time to explore at their own pace. Stroll along the beachfront, browse souvenir shops and local boutiques, or simply relax by the ocean. A wide selection of restaurants offers fresh seafood, traditional Mexican cuisine, and international dishes, many with ocean views, making it an ideal spot for lunch.
Guests have the option to extend their stay in the Golden Zone to enjoy lunch, beach time, or additional activities. If choosing to remain in this area, return transportation to the cruise terminal can be easily arranged with the assistance of the tour operator or driver.
