- Piano Provenzana - Upon reaching Piano Provenzana at an elevation of 1,900 meters, visitors have the option to pause and hike independently or continue ascending the volcano by jeep (ticket not included). This journey can take you to an altitude of 2,840 meters, traveling in off-road vehicles along a high mountain trail. This path, formed amidst captivating lava fields and volcanic sand, follows the fracture created during the 2002 eruption, with guidance from Alpine/Volcanological Guides.
The journey leads to the Pizzi Deneri volcanological observatory. From here, the ascent continues on foot along a trail surrounded by volcanic debris and rocks. The total climb is 300 meters, reaching a scenic viewpoint at an altitude of 2,900 meters, the highest point permitted by authorities in the summit area. In favorable weather, both the Leone and Bove valleys can be seen, along with the impressive North-East and South-East craters.

Embark on a journey to Mount Etna’s North side, the tallest active volcano in Europe. Travel comfortably by GT Bus. Enjoy an excursion with a local multilingual guide who will provide a comprehensive historical, geological, and volcanological overview of Etna during the approximately one-hour drive. Along the way, observe diverse vegetation including citrus groves, vineyards, chestnut groves, and pine forests. Arrive at Piano Provenzana (North side - 1900 meters), where you will have about three hours to explore the area independently with a gentle trek.
There is an option to reach the highest altitude permitted by authorities in the summit area, currently set at 2,900 meters, accessible by 4x4 minibus.
Please note that the ticket price is not included and must be paid on-site.
Enjoy a stop at a mountain chalet (lunch not included).
Return to Taormina in the afternoon.
