Joseph Osborn, a director of Thomas Hardy and Sons and non-drinker, established d’Arenberg, one of the prominent wineries in McLaren Vale, in 1912. He sold his collection of award-winning horses to acquire the land now home to the winery, tasting room, and d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant. These days, Chester, a fourth-generation family member, produces unique wines using conventional methods in both the vineyard and the winery.
