The hiking adventure begins in the village of Stabna, located 15 km from Plužine, with the lakes named after the village. The path takes us through pristine nature for 4.5 km, leading first to the Small Lake, situated at an altitude of 1194 m above sea level. After a photo stop, the journey continues to the Great Lake, which is a 30-minute walk away. The Large Stabansko Lake, nestled at the base of the southern slopes of Mount Volujak, is a natural gem, much like the Small Lake. It sits at 1,325 m above sea level and boasts an emerald green hue. The Stabanska lakes are encircled by the mountain peaks of Bioč, with slopes adorned by lush green deciduous and pine forests.
Following a break at the Great Lake, the hike proceeds to the scenic Kručica. Here, we reach the source of cold mountain water - Zemunica. Just beyond the source lies a Greek cemetery. The walk over Kručica is gentle, with surrounding mountain peaks, old cottages, horses, and stunning views that will captivate your heart. The descent then leads back to the village.
The hiking tour concludes with a photo opportunity at the Vrbnica river waterfall. Vrbnica is the largest tributary of the Piva river, stretching about 12 km, flowing partly through deep forest canyons and partly through a broad fertile valley, home to the oldest and most climate-friendly Piva villages. Historically, Vrbnica hosted up to 70 mills. Today, near the waterfall, remnants of one remain.
Essentials to bring: comfortable shoes, sneakers, or climbing shoes. Water, food, and a positive attitude for a delightful experience!
Note: The tour lasts 5 hours plus transfer time, depending on your accommodation location.
