After collecting the participants in Coimbra, the journey continued to the village of Mealhada to explore one of the region’s oldest wineries. The group walked through tunnels where thousands of bottles mature, while learning in detail about the sparkling wine production process. There was an opportunity to sample a red table wine, a white wine, and a sparkling wine.
Following the visit, the tour proceeded with a scenic drive through several wine estates, stopping at a viewpoint of the “Maria Gomes” swing to admire some vineyards.
In the village of Cúria, the old railway station from the 1940s houses the headquarters of the Rota da Bairrada. This location represents all the wine producers in the region, offering the privilege of discovering various wine products in one place.
After the wine tasting and tour, the group returned to the starting point in Coimbra.
