For chocolate lovers - I did this tour with my 13 year old daughter and we loved it. Our fantastic guide was Erika who brought great energy to the trip from the moment she picked us up from our hotel to when she dropped us off. Our drive to the farm brought us through beautiful scenery and through different areas which Erika commented so we could understand what we were seeing and the history of the area. The arrival at the well-kept farm of Efren and Alicia was welcoming and we got to see how Efren caught fish using a net before the cocoa tour started with his daughter. We learned about the different stages of cocoa growing and the different types before picking some pods ourselves and getting beans ready for fermentation. We learned to roast and turn the beans into a paste with which we made our own chocolate bars. After the workshop we enjoyed a hot chocolate with a cheese brioche whilst admiring the amazing view from the farm. Thanks to our hosts and Erika for such a great experience!

Best tour ever - What an outstanding experience we had on our day trip to Chocolate Farm, Piedra del Penol and Guatape, thanks to our amazing tour guide Laura and our driver Marque. Booking process was very easy and communication was right on the spot. Our guide Laura was very informative and went above and beyond to accommodate us and answer all our questions. We never felt rushed. Chocolate tour was an unbelievable experience from the history, the tasting of coco beans, walking through the farm and observing all the chocolate, banana and other trees, watching the butterflies and the birds, getting a scrub by the waterfall and then getting to make our own chocolate and tasting the delicious fruits. The owner of the farm and his family were very welcoming. Piedra del Penol had an incredible views. The town of Guatape was very cute and colorful. I would definitely recommend this tour company versus big bus ones as everyone who works there go above and beyond to make your day memorable.

Fantastic, fun and educational - Sara showed us a wonderful time. She was very knowledgeable about the history, economics and agriculture of Colombia which made for some great commentary on our drive to the cacao farm. The experience at the farm was fantastic! Sara showed us around, explained in both English and Spanish and answered any questions we had along the way. I would definitely take another tour with her.

Enriching and Beautiful Experience! - This was an incredible experience! I went with my 12-year old daughter and she loved it as well. Our guide, Erika, spoke English very well and was very friendly. During our drive, she shared some interesting information about Medellin and Colombia. We felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. The chocolate farm is a bit outside of the city, higher in the mountains. The family that owns the farm were very kind and lovely hosts. They only spoke Spanish, so Erika was helpful in translating everything for us. The tour was private, so we could ask questions and fully participate. The walk up to the trees to pick the cacao pods was a bit steep, and you are definitely in nature, so I recommend shoes or boots that are comfortable for climbing and that you don't mind getting dirty. You might also be more comfortable with long pants and bug spray. I didn't notice any bug bites, but we sprayed ourselves before the trip. The walk is brief and not very strenuous, but you are in higher altitude, so bringing water is important. We got to experience (and taste!) every part of making chocolate in a very beautiful environment. If you want to buy any chocolate to take home with you, bring Colombian pesos since they do not take credit cards or US dollars. This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend!

Highly Recommend!!! - This was such a wonderful experience in the more rural side of Colombia! If you have a chance, you should definitely make a day trip out of this. Our guide, Laura, was so energetic, kind, and enthusiastic during our trip there, for the tour itself, and on the way back. We got to learn not only about the process of making chocolate, but the history of other parts of the country. During this tour, we got to participate in the process, try different types of chocolate, walk around the farm with the family and pets, and eat some homemade cheese bread. My friends and I really enjoyed this private tour!! :)

Best tour of my trip! - Sara was such a great guide. I did the chocolate farm tour (mostly because I’m not a coffee person). First, her English was fantastic. While I can follow some Spanish this allowed me to learn so much more from the moment I hopped in the car. Second, I appreciated the intimate nature of the tour… we did not land at some touristy farm that feels like disneyland, this was a real family farm, just us and the dogs running around. I learned so much and all I could think was I wish my family was with me because they’d have a blast. I’m going to book Guatapé/Comuna 13 next. [of note, I’m American, with Spanish that allows me to “get by” but you don’t need to know any as the guide speaks English, booking was easy through Venmo for me and I brought some cash to buy chocolate and tip guide]
